I always thought the Flyers took pride in being "Broad Street Bullies" and intimidating/injuring/destroying? I'm confused? Flyers were that for 40+ years? It's like how Germans think nothing happened from 1933-1945.
Neal and Cooke were shipped out for these reasons. Especially Neal. Why would they trade a 40+ goal guy for a 20 goal guy and a depth forward? Cuz he's dirty. Pens tried to change Cooke's play (and Neal's) and it wasn't taking. Buh bye.
Even in Philly I always thought Downie was reactionary. Obviously this writer didn't see Downie last night. 1 goal, tons of CLEAN hits, unreal puck possession numbers, by far his best game in a pens uniform. If a game heads south (say after a intent to injure boarding major) then yes, Downie will get involved.
Farnham provided much needed spark when the Pens were riddled with injuries during his last call up. Had 1 fight and actually drew 7 penalties. Wouldn't expect anyone here to know that tho. Most "goons" aren't 5'10" and 180 either. - stowerkraut
See that's the problem. Define "if a game heads south". I've watched Downie try to take out Boychuck's knee about 5 times in one game after we took the lead when it was well known he had a knee injury. The game didn't go south but you were down by a couple of goals. He also did it the last time we played you. Watched him drive Nielsen into the boards head first. Take out Okposo's knee on the first game of the back to back. Does the game going south include you guys losing so he starts playing reckless? Doesn't seem like a player I'd be defending even if he were on my team. |

I would also say good on Voracek for handling his own poop. This is the first season where he's really high profile and to some extent a player still has to earn his credibility. Europeans especially. - Johnny Wrath
I don't remember the player, but Giroux got smoked last year (could have been 12/13) and Voracek went after the dude and tuned him up. He's a fairly big guy and is pretty strong. |

Brady did a great job in that press conference. True champion. Hopefully they find that ball boy and string him up |

Bellechek is seriously pissed off. If he finds out who failed to deflate that 12th ball, there's going to be hell to pay. |

Whoever did the altering shouldn't change the fact that the game balls were altered by someone employed by the organization. I don't expect anyone to claim responsibility. If anything, were I Brady, I'd slip one of the waterboys $50,000 to step forward and take responsibility. |

Wasn't there a frozen vs unfrozen puck controversy like eight years ago? Or were they just in Sunrise, Fla.? |

And that glimmer of hope means that he may well be an effective NHLer.
Seriously, how is the NHL going to combat its rat problem? James Neal can't target the head of every other fellow rat, there's only one of him. |

My brother in law despises ketchup. I think he may be an alien. Or possibly a Kid Rock fan. |

Well, there's knees, necks, back, and several stabbable areas as well. He's limiting himself with head shots. He needs to expand to meet market demand. |

An alien would have to be pretty secure of time-space logistics and have calculated the effects if the Earth's atmosphere on their alien sensory systems and so on. I can conclude therefore that this individual is too intelligent to enjoy Kid Rock. |

Okay, I have a master plan.
The NHL makes Mike Milbury the GM of the Coyotes.
Wit, wait - just hear me out.
Mike Milbury distributes the Coyotes roster throughout the NHL in exchange for the rats on every other NHL roster.
The NHL Rat All Star team all spear each other in their very first contact drill, you know, to be an effective player.
Arizona folds and the NHLPA/NHL insurance covers the remaining value of the players' terminated contracts. |
