He grew up in Central NJ. Edison to be exact. As did Tom Dwan.
Ivy played poker in casinos in AC as an 18 year old. He was known as no home Jerome. I have a friend who knows him fairly well. He used to sleep under the piers in AC. Pretty amazing he went from that to being worth 300 million dollars. - PLindbergh31
Ivy lost a big paycheck because he was accused of counting cards. |

No worries Sir...
Phils are in for a rough season. They have to rebuild. Pretty solid run. They were good for about half a dozen years and won a World Series. Can't complain about that. - PLindbergh31
If they could just move Howard. He is more of a anchor then Vinny |

Yup, and a bigger paycheck when his wife filed for divorce. |

I am not saying he is just a figure head. He probably is a sounding board like you said for Hextall and probably is in meetings seeing what revenue they might be able to bring into the team and Wells fargo center. I was comparing it to Roseman. They technically got promotions. But it wasn't like they just got all this power. That is all. - J35Bacher

$465 million+ price tag on that as an expansion club. They aren't moving any team there. |

They've been able to move Rollins, and moving Papelbon would be good. No sense in having high priced veterans on a team that has to rebuild. I think they are stuck with Howard. Maybe an American League team could be interested in him as a DH, but I think it's pretty unlikely. |

The rebuild is underway with Rollins, Byrd, etc. dealt. Hamels won't be here to start next season. Howard is the only guy that can't be moved which is why he's still here. Utley is a marketing tool although he still has plenty of value. |

Yeah. I think the thought process with Hamels is to wait for contending teams to be desperate for pitching, and have a few teams bidding for his services. I would hate to see the Phils trade Hamels to the NYY. That would make me sick. |

He's all about the bucks. They aren't getting $465 million in transfer fees out of that Arizona franchise.
I just heard the other day that the people who are building in Las Vegas got their first look at the buy in money and it started at nearly half a billion. Bettman and the owners aren't passing on that. |

The discussion is about the Flyers front office, not the parent company. Go to the Flyers website and click on Front Office, David A Scott is not listed. - MJL
I guess the question is, how much do you really think Homer knows about business? Is he doing ticket sales? Packaging Santa Sacks? Overseeing the marketing group? Accounting? IT? Food? Promotions? Mites on ice appearances?
He knows a lot about the game of hockey, but that doesn't necessarily translate to knowledge of the business side of things just like me liking to eat ice cream doesn't mean I could run a parlor. And one of the responsibilities he was stripped of was one of the more important ones for the Flyers: money and asset management. |

So with Crosby and Malkin out, does Giroux have a shot at being 1C? - Streit2ThePoint
No chance. Crosby advised the nhl he didn't want them to do that. |

They probably can't afford him. With the type of budget they have and that POS stadium. Word is they are looking at a new setup for bullpen phones.

They probably won't be competitive for a while. Baseball is the hardest sport to go from bad to good in a hurry imo. |

Yeah but I like watching Giles, Diekman, Franco. Maybe some of the young arms in Lehigh Valley. At least there is some intrigue. Last year was like watching paint dry because you kind of knew what you had in guys. |

The Dodgers have some nice prospects: Corey Seager, Joc Pederson, Julio Urias, Grant Holmes. As do the Cubs: Kris Bryant (pipe dream to get him though), Addison Russell, Jorge Soler, Kyle Schwarber. I don't think the Yankees will be contending this year. Padres and Red Sox have some guys I'd like too. |

My question woould be like this.
If Hextall wants something and Holmgren doesn't who wins?
If Chip wants something and Roseman doesn't, who wins?
Holmgren and Roseman are both technically higher in the hiearchy based on titles. |
