Anyone read Panotchs article on CSNPhilly? Its not bad. The one thing that I laugh at is people saying Homer created a mess and got a "promotion". You know what promotion he got? The same one Roseman got. Here is some money and new title now step aside. - J35Bacher
That "promotion" is really a golden parachute. Anyone that thinks otherwise is naive. |

Holmgren didnt deserve to be banned from the organization. He did some good things. It was just time for him to step away from the GM position. |

Yeah but its funny I see a lot of people say that Homer got this great promotion after making a mess. I think Snider said " Homer, I am giving Hexy the job. Here is more money and a new title so it doesn't look like your fired." |

Not a bad article but too heavy on anecdotal evidence and not enough raw information. Although I tend to agree with him. Rask's comments are particularly interesting. Does anyone think to ask the goalies how they want the defense in front of them to play? - NickTheKid87
If they don't it would be a criminal oversight. |

Great to hear. Flyers should end up with a great prospect. Slowly but surely the pipeline is starting to be stocked.
Do you think any players other than McDavid and Eichel will start in the NHL? - PLindbergh31
I think Eichel will stay in college for another year
I think Strome & Zacha have a solid chance |

Holmgren knew it was time to move on. Not really a good article. Starting with you don't bring up young players to give them a shot. You bring up young players when you think they're ready to come up, and not before. Why put a player like Cousins into this situation? Let him stay with the Phantoms and continue what they have going on down there. |

I guess I'm naive. Holmgren wasn't given a title just to hang around. He's involved in the business side. |

Well technically he went from a General Manager to a President. That is a promotion in title. Not sure what the financial details are.
It's hard to argue that Holmgren didn't leave Hextall with some very bad contracts. The cupboard isn't exactly empty, but Hextall has a lot of work to do, and having a handful of players that he's stuck with makes it more of a challenge. |

A career hockey guy gets blindsided and is completely removed from hockey ops... yeah, I'd say he got put out to pasture. |

I think most goalies want to see the puck, they feel if they can see it, they can stop it. I think the most important point is block the shot within the flow of the play. If you're in the shot lane, try and block the shot. If you're tight on the shooter, try and block the shot. As others have said, don't wave at the puck or try and make a miracle block and screen your goaltender. |

Yawn.
Must be pretty sucky for CBJ fans to have to watch Voracek show up for the ASG in their city leading the league in points while all they have to show for it is Jack Johnson.
Kinda thought Sreit deserved to be there... Oh well. - hereticpride
Could be worse.....Carter could be there too |

That's the most logical thing to do. Let the goalie do his job, don't do it for him kinda thing. Block the shot when it's the best option, not just try to block for the sake of blocking. |

You can interpret that phrase any way you want. Some might think it means when ready. Some might think just a look see. Wasn't Ghostisbiere a "shot"? I don't think anyone really thought he was ready. But after the TDL depending on what happens if a guy like Liere might show is he is ready. Maybe they bring him up to get a look on the 3rd or 4th line. There is no way to truelly know how they will look until they go against NHL competition. |

Outside of Kane. I doubt theres even 3 more players in the NHL that can stickhandle like Patty. Not even Crosby. I would bet money on it. - GOA88
I think you're right. I know I should be over it by now, but it still chaps my ass that he's not a Flyer. The drop off from 1 to 2 that year was huge. JVR is a solid player in his own right, but Kane is a super star, and I just think about what it would be like to have him and G on the same team. Oh well, we have Luke Schenn out of the whole thing, so that's good. |

Mason has a career .920 s% as a Flyer. I doubt Bob posts that with the Flyers defense. Currently this season Mason has a .920 % and Bob has a .913 %. I dont feel like we lost on Bob at all. - GOA88
Until we see what Stolartz and Leier do its hard to call it a loss anyway |

I think Ghost was a "taste". They wanted to give him some first hand experience to show him what he needed to work on. His "with the puck" skills are already NHL caliber, so we want you to see what you need to do in terms of your "away from the puck" skills.
There was never any intention of keeping him up IMO.
I think players like Cousins and Leier would be liabilities on an NHL ice surface at this time. |

They knew Ghostisbehere would only be up for a few games, and was only called up due to injury. My point is they should do what is best for the player. |

Would you have traded Bobrovsky, Leighton, and a 3rd for Mason, Stolarz, Leier, and 1/2 season of Gagne? Because I certainly would, at this point. |

Have you ever worked in a front office? You know how many guys are kept around as "consultants", "advisers", kept around on the "business side".
A lot of the time it is because they are under contract and getting paid anyways and they are liked so they keep around so not to look like they are just moving them out.
Yes they might still do some things for the team but not nearly what you might think/ |
