They want Hagg`s contract to slide so if we even see him it won't be for anymore than 9 games - ob18
Yep, that's why I put 6-8. |

Absolutely. Bob gets too much credit. Good goalie, but he isn't this superstar like he is made out to be. - GOA88
When he won the Vezina he arguably deserved it. But sometimes I think he was voted the winner just to stick it to the Flyers and their fans.

Why? Do you need to google my name and see if I am telling the truth? - J35Bacher
No need to google anything. I wouldn't ask for your name, nor do I think you should post it on line for obvious reasons. Just asking what AHL team and what your position was in the front office?
Anyone who has worked in an NHL, AHL, or any front office of a major company knows that the President is not just a figure head. |

No, as long as I can say I was GM of a Stanley Cup wining team in the mid-50's. |

If we see him at all it will be at the end of the year, unless the Phantoms are in the playoff race. |

And don't ever, EVER put your stick out to try and knock down or deflect an airborn shot. This isn't baseball. - MBFlyerfan
Occasionally guilty. Did that in a game on Tuesday. The deflection went way wide by my goaltender wasn't happy. |

I agree with that in most cases because the timing of it has to be perfect, or you take yourself out of the play. I've seen Timonen slide down to break up two on one's though on a bunch of occasions. Not something you want to do often, but when doen right, it can be effective. - MJL
Honestly he was the best dman I've seen in my relatively short life in those 2-1 situations. What a great (frank)in player he was, man. The best Dman in the league that no one knew about. |

Peter Lukko was the President and COO.
Holmgren was promoted to president but the COO part was what David Scott took over. It is his ideas they plan to implement on the business side moving forward. I am not saying Holmgren is just a figure head. But I don't think he has as much power on the business side as you might think.
It was a team with 75 years of history in the AHL. |

Hershey?

I would hope not. He admitted he was going into w/ zero experience and would be relying heavily on the various dept heads. Wouldn't be surprised if his days were mostly spent playing golf w/ business partners. |

Off the hockey thing a moment but are the Philles really going to be able to get rid of Papelbon? Maybe Vinny could be moved. |

I think Eichel will stay in college for another year
I think Strome & Zacha have a solid chance - ob18
From what scouts are saying, Eichel staying at BU for his Sophomore year is a long shot. He may choose too though but many say he is NHL ready. |

They could probably trade him easily but I think they are asking for too much and won't eat salary. Re: Papelbon. Could be the same case for Vinny too. Technically they can probably trade Vinny, it just wouldn't be worth it. I.e. Lecavalier to Toronto for Clarkson but we eat half of Vinny's salary and may throw in a pick. |

Not NHL but yes I have worked in the AHL front office. I worked in player operations and game night operations
I know what Holmgren title is.
I also understand how the structure works. - J35Bacher
They were polite and loyal to Homer, but in my opinion his title holds next to no power and he isn't involved with player personnel, the meat of the operation. He likely just sits in his office and looks out the window hoping for a phone call to make him feel important.
There's no way - none - you go from GM to team president and call it a promotion in any way but title. Of course, maybe Homer wanted out, and in that case it was win/win for him. |

That is all I am saying. He might do some things and look to create some ideas but I think a lot of the heavy lifting is being done by David Scott. That's all. |

I think there may be confusion between "no power" and "no power in roster decisions". I think he has less power than Hextall in terms of personnel but is definitely consulted, especially when drafting, which he's been pretty good at for the most part. |
