The Hip is, well was, quintessential Canadian Rock. They are a classic. You are obviously too young to remember their influence to the Canadian rock scene and University rock in the US for about a decade (late 80s to mid 90s).

I used to love Hip albums end to end....then it slowly became just a handful of songs now there may be a couple of songs. They are not what they used to be, but still a fave of mine.

They stayed basic rock and everything else moved on.
