If we trade Giroux for him, we get some cap space. |

NHL.com early mock draft
http://www.nhl.com/ice/m_news.htm?id=750137 - ob18
Seeing these mocks is fortifying my belief/hope we can move Coburn to a bubble team out West (Calgary, SJ or LA). He would solidify one of their backends and strengthen their run toward a playoff spot. If not, a better slot to pick. Ive been all in for #calgarysfirstpick but I would love to get San Joses for the poetic justice of torturing 2Real |

For the Richards for AMac naysayers:
If Mike Richards was a UFA, would you pursue him? If so, how much would you offer him, salary and term? |

No.
He's not a defenseman. |

If Mike Richards was a playoff rental, UFA at the end of this season?
I think his value would be crazy high. Honsetly. Remember back to the 90s when it seemed like every year one of Dallas, Detroit, or Colorado was trading for Mike Keane? That super-poised leader who could play 8-14 minutes was prized on a team that had a shot.
He's young for the role but if MR didn't have that absurd contract he could serve in the Dallas Drake/DET 2008 role.
Let's look at it in another light: even Luongo was traded. There is a space somewhere in the NHL for Richards. |

What I notice most about that play is Couturier missing his man at the blue line leaving the other 3 Flyers exposed down low. |

@RandyJMiller: Scott Laughton not progressing well from his concussion. Looks like #Flyers rookie will be out awhile. |

Seems like just, what, 6 months or so when I got eviscerated in this forum for daring to suggest that Mike Richards' game had plummeted off a cliff

It was one shift. Every defenseman has an occasional bad game or bad shift. I like to look at a defensman's overall game. He was a little inconsistent early in the season, but since coming back from injury, he's been pretty solid overall, the last 25-30 games. Not to be confused with being perfect or mistake free. |

He kind of picked up someone. Kind of. It ended up being a 3-on-1 in front of the goal. A 3-on-2 would probably have resulted in a save. |

Making a mistake is one thing. That was one of the poorest defensive sequences I've ever seen. That is truly a situation where a pylon would have literally been more effective. |
