Thing your missing is the best thing the Caps have ever done in their history is get swept in the finals.

Hockey isn't already a "rich-kid" sport? The sheer cost of equipment alone makes it exponentially more expensive to play, before factoring in ice-time and travel, should the level of play require it. There isn't a chance in hell that a low-income family can afford to spend $5-10k per year on hockey.

Hockey has been a rich kids sport for quite a while in the U.S. I'm not sure about Canada, but I think that schools sponsor their hockey teams up there as opposed to the private team system down here.

Your team/organization sucks - I'd compare them to my hometown football team (Redskins). We won 3 Super Bowls, we have banners/retired #'s, but I'm hardly trash-talking anyone these days, regardless of whether or not their team has ever won a Super Bowl.

The article is more about the media and fans as opposed to a dig of any sort against Ovechkin.

He didn't give the car to charity, but he intended to without making it be known, so technically it would have been his car by the time he would have given it away. I doubt even now he would have made this public, except Honda probably did it to shine a light on themselves, not him.

Say what you want about the guy, but he is one of the most entertaining players to have laced skates. His heart is always 100% in the game and cares about the fans. Heck, he would have probably showed up for the all-star weekend with a broken foot because he knows there are kids in the audience that would have been there just to see him. Not like some other Cindy Crybabys that don't show up because they have the sniffles and need Lemeiux to spoon feed them homemade chicken noodle soup. Open up, here comes the airplane.
