He's not that type of player anymore, Mike Richards is a bottom 6 forward, that can help you out on the pk.

Horrible management by Lombardi really ? Dude only has 2 cups......Hindsight is 20/20 there bub last season & heading into this season Mike Richards was their 3rd line centre, but he's fallen off this year & continues to be a declining player.

Its not horrible managment. Richards will find his game in the AHL and be moved at some point regardless. The Kings weren't going to buy him out and lose him for nothing when they lost players like Brayden Schenn and Wayne Simmonds to get him. Dean Lombardi said it best yesterday....."Mike is a guy whos hit .330 that can still hit .280, but right now is having trouble batting .200"

Mike Richards at no point during his tenure with the Kings has been the same player he was in Philly. Dude went from being the captain of the team that drafted him in a great hockey city to a bottom-6 forward who gets scratched for games. He's always had motivational issues. To me, he just doesn't care.

He's always been an average skater at best and has a decent, but limited, skill set. The guy was a PPG player in Philly because of his hockey sense and his willingless to be a leader on and off the ice. That passion isn't there anymore with Mike Richards. My personal opinion is that he likes being a leader and a focal point of the the offense and is on a team filled with offensive fire power. I also don't think he's the biggest sutter fan.

The Oilers were smart to do their due diligence and not out right claim him with that contract. But anybody arguing Mike Richards doesn't make the Oilers a better team is absolutely delusional.
