if someone's not an NBA fan, fine by me
but reading this kind of uninformed crap is no different than the idiots who rip hockey and call it a fringe sport with a bunch of foreigners with unpronounceable names

So you'd say that most NBA players are good role models for kids to emulate? They're not narcissistic, don't like to "posterize" other players, and are generally good-natured guys? - jmatchett383
I don't understand why posterizing another player is a bad thing. Why wouldn't you want to dunk on another player? It's like saying a beautiful end to end rush by a player is a bad thing. |

At least you finally admit it.
Edit: I'm wrong. I hope my daughter watched Kobe Bryant and LeBron James on the court and wants to act just like them. - jmatchett383
What did Lebron James ever do off the court that was terrible? If you truly think NBA players are the only narcissists and NHL players are angels I feel bad for you.
I'd say most NBA players are perfectly good people. |

I grew up watching the NBA in the 80's that was a golden era. The NBA game today in my opinion is pretty much unwatchable and is really a disgrace to the game and the legacy of the League. IMO - MJL
College hoops > Pro hoops
In fact, pro hoops, to me, is unwatchable. Has been for decades. |

Kobe Bryant said it best. The American players aren't being taught the game of basketball. The Europeans are much better basketball players than we are. |

Maybe I'm wrong, but when I watch the NBA, it's just a bunch of guys trying to show off. Could care less about winning as long as they look good and/or make the other guy look foolish.
I'm not gonna quote Woody Harrelson's line from White Men Can't Jump about the difference between black guys and white guys because I don't want to get banned, but I think it's a good way to describe the NBA nowadays compared to how it used to be. |

It's also making the other guy look foolish. When players like Sean Avery, Darcy Tucker, and Tie Domi did that in hockey, they were vilified.

If Kimmo can play and will be ready in a month, do the Flyers need to make a trade at the deadline just to fit him under the cap? |

It's part of the game though. If a guy is guarding the basket, what do you want them to do? Dribble away? |

Kimmo would have to be concussed to think coming back to this team is a good idea. |

Use 2 hands to secure the ball as opposed to extending it with 1 hand and basically waving your junk in the dude's face? Shoot a lay-up? Pass to a more open teammate? Shoot a fadeaway? |

You aren't watching the games then. There are individual players in both the NHL and NBA who try to show off. How many times does VL put the puck through his legs and turn it over. How about the Streitian spin'o'rama? What about when Ovechkin tries going through an entire team? |

If you have the puck in the corner, is the best idea to skate straight at the net and try to stuff the puck in if there's a player between you and the goalie, or should you attempt to go around him and/or take a different route and/or pass the puck to a more open teammate? |

He keeps saying he wants to retire with his skates on...
In this desolate, post-capgeek wasteland, I'll go out on a limb and say that I think just trading Schultz for a pick and demoting Colaiacovo should be enough to add Kimmo to the roster if he is ready to play again this season. Schultz has a cap hit of $1.25m and and CC has a cap hit of $0.625m, and Kimmo's cap hit for this season is only $2m with the $1.5m in bonuses going on next year's cap if he hits any of them. |

Not every drive to the basket ends in a posterizing dunk. 99% of them don't. |

To Philadelphia: For C Vincent Lecavalier or D Andrew MacDonald
The Flyers are no strangers to regrettable contracts, and they could try to pawn off Lecavalier or MacDonald, two players with big money contracts that have been healthy scratches this season, in the hopes that a return to Philadelphia would energize Richards.
Look at me and TSN being on the same page. |
