You aren't watching the games then. There are individual players in both the NHL and NBA who try to show off. How many times does VL put the puck through his legs and turn it over. How about the Streitian spin'o'rama? What about when Ovechkin tries going through an entire team?
- PhillySportsGuy

I don't like the way Ovechkin plays when he makes the game 1-on-5. I think the Streit spin-o-rama and the Vinny through the legs are stupid. I would have had no problem if someone on the Rangers pulled a Dale Hunter on Tomas Hertl last year for showing them up.

Not every drive to the basket ends in a posterizing dunk. 99% of them don't.

No, I like basketball players who would rather succeed than look good, not the other way around. It's a flash and dazzle league now. Give me college basketball all day.

He must be.

I've had a suspicion that MJL has been (frank)ing with us for years.

TSN Mid-Season 2015 NHL Draft Rankings will be unveiled Thursday, both on tsn.ca and a 30-minute preview show. Looks like it will be Top 60.

Does the NBA allow, and consider part of its culture, fist fighting on the court during play? Any league that does that would lose all respect.

Thats why the Cavs aren't that good this year. They haven't adapted and still just run a bunch of iso plays. Their ball movement is terrible and their defense is even worse.

Watching teams like the Hawks, Warriors, Spurs and Suns is a pleasure.

It just seems to happen more in basketball, football, and baseball. I guess it goes hand-ion-hand with feeding egos with crazy money. They feel the need to show off how good they are past just performing well. Like when a guy hits a homerun and just stands and stares, or when TO ran out to the star in Dallas. I'm not saying hockey players are saints on/off the ice, just that basketball seems to be the league with the biggest amount of over-inflated egos that come out on/off the court. And I have my own reasons for why I think that is.

Is that fair enough? Or am I just making biased, uninformed racist remarks?

I don't see how you can watch the Spurs or the Warriors or the Hawks and not enjoy it. Basketball purists get orgasms from watching those teams execute.

I don't know a person on earth who didn't enjoy watching the Spurs team game dismantle the Heat last year in the Finals.

- PhillySportsGuy

Not the basketball purists I know. My brother was a high school asst coach for a bunch of years, and I've been around the game alot, and also am a fan of College basketball. He agrees with me, as do a number of other basketball purists I know. Also was a big NBA fan in the 80's watching great teams like the Sixers, Celtics, and Lakers, where the games were absolute wars. Players actually ran full speed up and down the court and defended all over the court. Crashed the boards and battled for loose balls and rebounds. Defensive stalwarts such as Michae Cooper, Dennis Johnson, and Mo Cheeks would destroy the players of today. They not only would have trouble in getting open looks, but trouble just getting the ball.
Comparing the NBA of the 80's to today's NBA is the equivalent of comparing a regular season NHL game to the recent NHL All star game.

To Philadelphia: For C Vincent Lecavalier or D Andrew MacDonald

The Flyers are no strangers to regrettable contracts, and they could try to pawn off Lecavalier or MacDonald, two players with big money contracts that have been healthy scratches this season, in the hopes that a return to Philadelphia would energize Richards.

Look at me and TSN being on the same page.

- aflyerpower8

Vinny's contract is twice as good as Richards contract. The Kings would need to retain salary and throw in a pick to make either trade even slightly appealing for the Flyers. There's a big difference between being a healthy scratch for a few games, and being waived to the AHL.

No, but MMA, the fastest-growing sport in North America, does. Hell, you can kick a guy in the face and get millions of dollars for it.

College hoops > Pro hoops

In fact, pro hoops, to me, is unwatchable. Has been for decades.

Vinny has a NMC, but MacDonald has neither, and the Kings would happily take him for Richards if Voynov gets deported.

I'll admit there is a touch of it in there, but I wanted to illustrate my point. Anyone that watched the NBA in the era that I referred to knows it, the game is that bad today. Especially if you're a college basketball fan, or a high school basketball fan. The NBA is unwatchable now in my opinion.

If Kimmo can play and will be ready in a month, do the Flyers need to make a trade at the deadline just to fit him under the cap?
- Feanor

They need to make some kind of move. With capgeek gone, not sure how much LTIR room they have, or if waiving and demoting Colaiacovo is enough.

Use 2 hands to secure the ball as opposed to extending it with 1 hand and basically waving your junk in the dude's face? Shoot a lay-up? Pass to a more open teammate? Shoot a fadeaway?
- jmatchett383

Dribble the ball up court against very little pressure, pass the ball off a few times to a player, with a defender not even contesting the pass, shoot a wide open shot, jog back to the other end. If the shot misses and he rebound is near you, jump for it.
