Pretty exciting that in just over a month the trade deadline will be here and we'll have a much better idea of what Hextall really thinks about this team. - Feanor
That to me is the most interesting question from now until draft day. There are some interesting hints but nothing concrete. I really wish we knew what was in that draft package last year offered to Florida to move up. I think that would give a good idea of what he thinks of the current team and specific players and or prospects.
He says he expected the Flyers to make the playoffs this year but supposedly wanted to lottery protect the 1st round pick which makes you think he wasn't all that sure.
He traded Hartnell for Umberger, a worst player on a similar contract. Was it to get Hartnell off the team or really for capspace years from now? If it was for capspace in the future what about the present?
Andrew MacDonald? Why?
Rinaldo extension? Again, Why?
He says he isn't tanking but he hasn't done anything to stop it. |

If he does one of Streit AMac or Coburn and manages to pick up a few mid round picks by moving Emery, Carlo, Schultz or Rinaldo I think its a good deadline. No reason to stand pat with this team. - hereticpride
I don't think Amac is tradeable right now, same for Streit due to their cap hits/years. Coburn could possibly fetch you something nice.
I don't think any team will want Rinaldo, let alone for 2 more years. Carlo was a scrap pile pickup who's played poorly, so I think Emery and Schultz are your 2 most viable guys there. |

Didn't Holmgren do the Amac extension?
As for Rinaldo, his entire cap hit can be buried in the AHL if the Flyers wish to do so. Low risk signing. |

I personally wouldn't trade Streit, and I'm not worried about his play falling off. - MJL
I don't think streit has been that bad. he's 4th in scoring in the whole league for defensemen. His game in his own end isn't great, but isn't awful either. He'll make a few lazy defensive plays or just bonehead plays in his own zone but I really don't think those mistakes have been all that often.

I believe you are correct about Amac. As for Rinaldo in the AHL. I like going to phantoms games, I don't want to see him there either. He needs to be gone. |

They could assign him to the ECHL if they wanted to. |

Streit only has 2 years after this year. I think there would be multiple suitors at the deadline if the flyers go that route. |

Streit should be traded for the right price. I mean seriously, how many more decent years are you going to get with him? Next year at the most. Is it really worth keeping him for that one more year if you can get something good in return? |

This.
Ultimately it doesn't matter how long Streit keeps up his play. It will be at least two more seasons before were seriously contending. Sell high on Streit. You aren't doing that with anyone else. - hereticpride
I think it does matter. The Flyers shouldn't be throwing away any seasons, including the next two. Don't sacrifice the future to win now, but there is no reason why they can't continue to try and win and make the playoffs, as well as build for the future. There should be a midle ground. |

I think they could move him, but I don't think the return they'd get would be adequate to his value to the team right now. I'd want at least 2 2nds, one this year, for him. |

Flyers should play the ahl defense, and tank the rest of the games.

Yeah I guess that makes sense. Especially with the guys we have in the system, start making room and get another rebuild piece back in the possible trade. One more productive year from him won't mean all that much.

I wouldn't make that deal. If someone wants to overpay for Striet, fine. Otherwise, I keep him in the fold. |

Nobody is saying to tank it but the playoffs this year are completely out of the question. It is not going to happen. The Flyers are six games out of the wild card with 3 teams ahead of them. It is not a realistic goal. |

Interesting call up. Guess its time to see what we have on the farm. I'm very concerned about Laughton. If its really bad. Shut him down for the season |

AHL is on all star break. Many of the guys have traveled home or on vacation. They were probably limited by who was actually in the area. |
