Thanks for a good read. I just want to note a few things with this one sentence, though. First, Muzzin has never had a leadership role. He's never worn a letter and he's a quiet guy. I suspect that you didn't mean the term in that sense, but I just wanted to clarify in case others get the wrong impression.

Second, "LA's success for the past six seasons" makes it sound like he was part of their 2012 Cup run, but he wasn't (he played 11 games in 10-11, but didn't play again or have his first, full rookie season until 12-13). Also, he wasn't even the team's #2 defenseman during the '13 and '14 Cup runs; Voynov was... and you could even argue that Martinez and Scuderi/Mitchell were ahead of him, making him more like the #4/#5 defenseman. It wasn't until 14-15 (after Voynov and Mitchell left the team) that he was promoted and started to be considered by some to be #2 caliber... and LA has won only a single playoff game since then. So, Muzzin hasn't been as key in LA's success as many may have the impression that he has been.

If LA can get a Kane or a Landeskog (the latter would be much more preferable) for Muzzin or a package centered on him, they should definitely do it. Muzzin is a lot like Jack Johnson was (a mostly one-dimensional defenseman who needs to put up points to be effective and not a liability), IMO, and trading such a player for scoring help (Johnson for Carter) worked out extremely well last time
