No, they aren't.

You ever notice how big of a pain in the ass people parallel parking can be? And that's when everybody is aware of the possibility.

In a parking lot, if you drive past the spot, I'm going to assume you decided you couldn't fit and I'm pulling in. If you start backing up in the road, you're a hazard.

Now, backing out of a spot, people see your reverse lights on, so they can stop and wait for you to back out, opening up a spot for them to pull in.

Courteous. Simple. Everybody knows how this works and everybody follows it. Don't be an ass just to make yourself feel like you're doing something more efficient or safer for yourself.

Yeah, when you pull forward into it. If you drive forward past it you've missed your spot and are going elsewhere.

i was fixated on parking lots as i drove to work today

it was about 90% front first

I can sort of understand it for something like a hockey game or even at work, but at a quick stop like Wawa it is unfathomable
