they both kind of suck. Goc was a decent player. He isn't anymore. Unless you are worried about that .16PPG Goc is sporting these days? - Elbows15
Neither player was in danger of having to play this past weekend in CMH, but Lappy is the kind of d-bag that I count on the Blues employing to ensure their demise come spring. Goc at least plays a legit bottom 6 game. |

Much ado about nothing to me. Lapierre seemed to play well against the Hawks. |

I'm not even thinking that far. When the playoffs come, there are two divisional opponents to dispatch first. As it sits now, that could be two of Winnipeg, Nashville, and St. Louis. All three are going to possibly be tough matches. - EKolb13

The Circus being at the UC can't be a decision dictated by money, the ice shows do better but....Neither generates the revenue of playoff games.
Long standing commitments that will be adjusted at some point... - Al
Didn't the Wirtz' used to have a piece of the Ice Capades? Don't know if they're part of the current iteration of it or not.
Between the ice show and the circus, it's a lot of guaranteed nights for the UC - and while I haven't looked at the results the past several years, I don't think (don't think) that the two alternate uses of the venue had any effect on how many play-off games the Hawks (or the Bulls) had - Hawks have done well (IIRC) on these trips, and when the Bulls were losing 30 straight on the circus trip, they weren't winning many other games. And most teams in both leagues have these kinds of venue issues, so it all mostly evens out.
I certainly understand that it's not optimal to have 7 in a row on the road, followed by 8 in a row at home, but I do think the Circus and the ice show will be here for a long time. |

Lets be respectful - they were the California Golden Seals.
And I think before the white skates they had green and gold ones to match the Oakland A's colors - RickJ
They were actually both...and the Cow Palace is actually still around...they have Disney on Ice type shows and livestock exhibitions there.

Concerts also, can't remember who, but a popular band from the 70's was playing there last year when I was in the area. |

What this tells me is that St. Louis is likely out of the Vermette sweepstakes, which is a real bonus for us. I was afraid they were going to get him. That being said, I still expect to hear "We like our team" after the trade deadline. |

I'll be at the MN game. Nothing like dealing with puffed up Wild fans all full of themselves. I love the twenty questions trying/challenging your hockey knowledge the moment you sit down with another team's sweater (happens to me every time and saw it happen to a poor sap wearing a Detroit sweater a few years ago).
Hawks better win. - MNHawk

When you win Cups it makes no difference, and when you don't it is hard to quantify any impact.
Not sure on ice shows although the Wirtz family has been involved for years...I think since 50's. Bobby Hull's 1st wife was a figure skater.
My point stands....The Circus and Ice Shows are long standing commitment and go beyond the money generated. Rocky Wirtz has basically said the same.
