Then I'd say you don't know much about Burmi. - Tomahawk
I'd say you're simply guessing about Burmi. Talent and potential is one thing, reality is another. |

Some cap relief, top-50 pick, comparable player (likely better), younger... What's not to like?
- Tomahawk
It would be a complete lack of due diligence not to consider it. |

He plays shutdown defensive minutes and averages 20+ goals and 40+ points per 82 games. He is definitely a 3rd line winger. He's not a bad 2nd line option either. - NickTheKid87
He has put up 2nd line winger scoring numbers at ES while playing shutdown defensive minutes. |

can you imagine if kimmo made a glorious return
and laughton and ghost came back and were amazing
and we made the playoffs somehow
and won the cup
and it started raining money
man, that'd be great - BulliesPhan87
Mason hits .930 and wins the Vezina

You answer the phone and listen to the offer, then give a quick no! That's all the due diligence it would require, in my opinion. |

Then we wouldn't be able to trade to get that 2nd round pick! - MJL
trade all the old defensemen, bring up all the prospects
nothing could possible go wrong
EDIT: err, possibly. That's... never happened before. |

His stats don't impress me, but that is all I have to go on.

No guess. He was a good two-way player for WPG before he jumped the pond, at a very young age. |

How good Read is in that role and the situations he plays in, is really underestimated. Read struggling this year, is one of the biggest reasons why the Flyers have had a sub par season. He is an extremely important player for this team. - MJL
Read's season is a factor, but bigger factors are the loss of Timonen, early injury to Coburn and the brutal early play of Wheels and Umberger, as the PK, which is clearly the biggest reason
Read could have helped things by scoring at a clip that was expected, but if he was right and all those other things were still as they are, they would still be in trouble
Matt Read having a good season or a bad one doesn't move you 10 points in the standings |

He led his team in scoring last year. Third so far this year.
All the tools are there as per every scouting report I've read. I'd have to explore how his play would translate before I'd react with a knee-jerk response and dismiss the thought immediately.

Read's season is a big factor, and if he was putting out his regular output offensively, that would go a long way towards helping the Flyers. Also being more healthy would also lead to helping out on the PK. I think the post above is another indication of just how important Read is to this team, is overlooked. It may not be the biggest reason, but Read's subpar play is a big factor in the Flyers struggles this year. He is that important of a player. |

Nothing knee jerk about it, that's just an assumption . I'm not willing to trade a player who is as important and as valuable as Read is, for a player who at this point only has potential, and has only produced average numbers in the KHL, which is a subpar league to the NHL. The 2nd round pick isn't enough of a sweetner to sway the balance. |

Absolutely a guess. His time in the NHL or the KHL doesn't point out that he's worth trading Read for him. It's absolutely just about hype, rather then the current reality. Burmistrov could develop later, neither you or I truly know if he will or won't. I'm sticking with the better player. |
