That really sucked. Schenn lost track of where his guy was and wasn't urgent enough about getting back, and 30 seconds after scoring we give up a goal.

Him and MDZ both picked the corner with their shots. It was good to see.

That MDZ goal was a hell of a shot.

I dunno, I saw some pretty glaring defensive breakdowns from Schenn last night. And I'm a huge defenseman fan. So I'm not in love with that pair. Looks ok on paper, has me chewing my fingernails in practice.

Wasn't a great game, a few mistakes in there, but not awful. Compared to Colaiacovo, Schenn was Larry Robinson. Man that guy is terrible.

That was one of the best games Read has played. He skated very well and always seemed to be around puck. The Hamburglar was set up at least 3-4 times. He did finish one.. So I will give him a little bit of credit

I think Umberger had some sort of repelant cologne on. They left him wide open for a ton of chances or at least it felt that way...

Yeah as good/steady as Schultz has been I've not been impressed with Colaiacovo...
But hey 2 out of three spare parts working out isn't a bad thing.

Umberger had a very strong game, one of the best Flyer forwards. He could've had a hat trick last night with the quality chances he got.

They should really be giving Manning a chance instead of Colaiacovo

My perspective on Schultz is this, he has no doubt played above expectations, for a guy that was signed to be the 7th defenseman. He's being asked to do a lot, too much, for a player of his caliber. He's basically been asked to play against top lines in games. Schultz has been on the ice for a ton of goals against, not all his fault. That's a big problem for the Flyers and a big reason why they've struggled. Problem is that they don't have anyone who would likely be any better in that role. So while I think he has played well, for the situation, I don't think in the big picture, he has been as good as the perception is.

Based on a small one game sample, I agree.

you know you would think after saying it Friday night someone would have gotten in his ear and reminded him Nash was traded. Yes he asked to be traded but none the less, he was TRADED. I wanted to tweet it to him

Also, rarely does tanking work. For every Crosby, Malkin, and Kane there are tons of top 5 picks that did not turn their franchises around.
- missingmike

Really, tons? Maybe literally by weight, if you reach all the way back to 1963...

Didn't say they aren't. But I wouldn't say they "turned a franchise around" either. In fact, I left off a lot of other players (Kessel, E. Kane, etc.) that didn't turn their franchises around, either. At least not the ones who picked them.

I think it's unfair to say they were supposed to turn a franchise around and say they failed because they didn't. Some, sure, like Jack Johnson but I don't think the rest were. Vanek, Ladd, Wheeler, etc. have had good careers and that is more than enough for where they were picked.

Impossible for any singular player to turn a franchise around.

I don't think the players should tank, but I won't be upset with people for hoping they finish in the top 5 range rather than the top 10 or top 15 range. It's all about odds. The odds of winning the lottery and the odds of finding a franchise player in the top 5 are obviously greater than finding a franchise player in the 5-15 range. It's not an exact science, but it's about increasing your chances.

I don't root (cheer) against them, but I'm not upset when they lose either.

That's what I said yesterday, don't know why they wouldn't give Manning another chance after the game he played against Pitt. They know Colaiacovo won't have any chance of being a part of future with this team. At least give Manning a chance.
Don't know who makes that call but... It was another bad one
