This trade may have been proposed here a while back, but what would you guys think about Read to the Jets for a 2nd and the rights to Burmistrov if the Flyers are 10 points out of a playoff spot a month from now? - Feanor
Tempting if what Burmistrov says is true about wanting to come back to the NHL. However, Read is a valuable, two-way player that has proven himself at the NHL level unlike Burmistrov. The 2nd makes it enticing. Ultimately, I think I'd pass though. |

if we lose games we might have a chance at lawson crousse - 2Real
Don't want to lose to Leafs Saturday night. That is one team I hate loosing to.
I am telling you. TRY to move Coburn and Streit to contending teams for their1st round picks then we can make numerous moves at draft. Move up, trade picks, ...lots of good things |

It's more than fair value, but I'd still rather keep Read. I think he's about to break out of his slump. |

JR was a good Flyer though. He was a battler. - Lexington Flyer
I had no problem with him as a Flyer or as a commentator until he started beaking off about how Mason isnt' good enough of a tender for us to win with.. it's like, watch the guy play man.. |

JR was always a "talk first, think later" kind of guy, in my opinion.
I liked JR when he was here, if only for sending Toronto packing that one playoff series. |

I'll drive Matt Read to the airpot myself. More then fair value IMO.
Read is already approaching 30 and has years and term. I'm not shopping him, but thats an offer I like a lot. You have to think long term. Giroux, Voracek, Simmonds, Schenn, Couturier, Laughton, Raffl all look like guys that could be in the top 9 for awhile; maybe Bellmare as well? As of right now, it appears we are stuck with Umberger and Lecavalier for some term as well. They are obviously not in long term plans, but in the short term they have to be accounted for from a cap stand point.
This is without considering guys like Nick Cousins (already has more points than all of last year in only 40ish games) Taylor Leier, Aube Kubel, whatever (if any) forwards we draft this year, etc. Lots of bodies.
Am I shopping Matt Read? Of course not. No reason to "shop" guys like him or Streit IMO. But would I seriously consider offers for them? Of course. A 2nd and the rights to Burmistrov is more than fair for Matt Read. A player like Streit would require a serious overpayment for me, but even he's someone I'd consider moving. The list of untouchables should be very, very small. |

Don't know, but a +9 in scoring chances is good no matter who you play against. |

A lot of the chances came with the Flyers 3rd line on the ice, so I imagine it was against some pretty good competition.
It's one good game out of a lot of bad games. Still, it was a good game for Amac and the Couts line. |

He definitely reaped the benefits. I thought Read was the biggest reason that line created so many chances.
Edit: The +9 scoring chances was in regards to Amac |

I agree that Read had a strong game, but so did Umberger. Umberger was one of the best Flyer forwards last night. |

Seems like he accrued most of those pluses behind Umberger's line.
Umby was getting set up on a tee all night, lol. |
