oh stop it. Habs would be out of a playoff spot with Halak probably and the Isles would have the conference wrapped up. |

The move made sense back then, both goalies were RFA, with the simple difference that Halak had rights to arbitration. It was fair to say that they could not keep both goalies (Halak's agent Allan Walsh made it clear he asked the Habs for a trade or that his client becomes the team's #1 goalie).
They had to renew Plekanec's contract that summer. So by keeping Halak they wouldn't have been able to keep Plekanec as well. Add to that the fact that Price was still young, and a 5th overall pick to boot, the team wasn't going to throw out the towel on him just yet. Simple as that.
That's why Halak was traded...I just don't like the return the Habs got, but that's another story.

i don't think Eller sucks if your expectations are realistic. he's not the 50-point guy we hoped he'd be. but he's still a decent player and the only centre on this roster over 6 feet. |

Has Jared Tinordi recovered from the beating he took a couple weeks ago and if so, are there any thoughts of bringing him up to big club? |

Gainey told every team that they would be listening to all offers for either goalie and they would take the best one.
Halak for Eller and Schultz was the best offer they got. |
