Why would we trade a player who is better in Strome for JVR and then throw in one of our best defensive prospects on top of it? This thread has been great so far but I believe we may have a winner here. Strome has been our best all around fwd the entire year

I hope that the Flyers will find a trade partner for #5, and keep MDZ. #5 hasn't been missed in my opinion; a turn over king, and MDZ has picked up his play of late. Grossmann is a solid stay at home D-man, but he lacks speed. I don't know how I would feel about losing him, but his salary $ could be spent elsewhere. I don't think that anyone is willing to take VL off our hands, so he could be our Richards LA vision of an expensive 4th line guy. Maybe a trade there?
Keep the updates coming, and thank goodness Buff isn't on our radar. But, in his defense, he has been playing strong of late. Sorry, I said defense, and Buff in the same sentence, my bad...lol.

JVR for: second & young roster player - too low. his contract raises his value substantially.
Phaneuf for: first, young roster player & prospect - not without dead weight salary coming back
Kessel for: first, second, young roster player & prospect (might be too much) - not bad. i think they get more roster players with potential back than picks/prospects
Reimer for: second & young roster player - at very most a 3rd.

I love it!! The leafs traded a pile of bums to acquire dion, and franson but now expect the sun and moon in return, sure that makes perfect sense. Those players, your 1 & 2 d are the reason the leafs are awesome so they must be awesome.
