I have nothing but respect for Timonen and I admire his passion to push so hard to play hockey again. But is it really worth the risk to come back to play for a team that's got no shot? Is the plan to trade him to a contender? I would love to see him get one.

Would certainly be a win/win, Kimmo gets a shot at a ring and the Flyers get another draft pick.

If the 1.74M of LTIR cap space is accurate, the Flyers have a few easy moves. Waive and demote either Zepp or Colaiacovo. They also could place an injured player on LTIR retroactively, if they aren't already on there.

Kimmo's said he wants to retire with his skates on, methinks this is about pride. My heart will experience a Grinch-esque swelling if I see Kimmo take the ice again, he's the (frank)ing man.

This blog is a roller coaster.

Yay Kimmo but be safe!

Made me sad to read of JJ's mom. That sucks.

I would be interested to see what contenders would be interested in Timonen. He would definitely have to get a good enough amount of games in so that the teams could get a read on whether or not he can still play. Plus Timonen would have to accept the trade.

Hopefully he comes back and shows he can still be a productive guy. His cap hit and term are perfect for a team looking for a guy who can anchor a second or (even better) third pair looking to go deep in to the playoffs. Plus be a PK stud.

Does that get us a 2nd? Or even better a late 1st?

and look for that murder rate to continue in the nhl where he will quickly climb to the top of every positive stat category known to man and lead the sharks to the their first stanley cup.

I'd be nice to see Timo get his wish and leave with his skates on.

Hope McLellan puts him on the 4th-line before dumping him off at the corner with no bus fare.

If Timonen can come back and play well, and is willing to accept a trade, he'd easily be the Flyers best trade chip.

I'd like that -- I think he'd like playing for Laviolette if he decided he did want to try for a ring

Ha! Not a ton there, huh?

I'd be fine with the fourth; I wouldn't hold a player like Timonen for ransom. Every game he plays -- if he even does -- could be his last

If we got 2 first round selections and another first and third round pick from Nashville for a one legged Forsberg, who knows?

Though, I wouldn't quibble too much over the return if Timo expressed his desire to take a last shot at a ring.
