Why not? If he gets traded and, as expected, the Flyers miss the playoffs, his new team is my new team until they win or get eliminated. |

That move would get a GM canned.
I think his value tops out at a 2nd these days. If a team is going to give up a 1st they'd probably rather get Streit.
I can see him getting moved to LA, NSH or NYI. I don't see much of a point for him to come back and not get a shot at the cup. - hereticpride
For a lot of teams, the player who is an expiring UFA is more valuable to them, then a player with term, at the deadline. I'm not saying that Timonen is going to fetch a 1st round pick, because I have doubts about that.

If we are getting the 1st rounder back do you really care if that other team then fires their GM? - ob18
I think he is saying no GM makes that move. Maybe for Streit or Coburn |

We could start an arms race by trading our other defenseman to the rivals of the team that showed the most interest in Timonen |

Anything can happen at the trade deadline. Looking back at recent trade deadlines, and the deals that are made. Not many 1st round picks are traded. Flyers getting a first round pick for any players they may be looking to move, is unlikely. Not impossible, but history suggests it is unlikely. |

Giroux, Voracek and Mason are close, but there are no sacred cows when you miss the playoffs.
I like some players more than others, but if it makes the Flyers better, I can get behind anything on anyone |

I agree to a certain extent, there shouldn't be any sacred cows. There also shouldn't be any sacrificial lambs due to one bad season either. |

You have to weigh a lot of things. How soon do you realistically expect the team to be a real contender, is a particular player worth more as a trade chip or a building block, does a player offer a unique set of skills that can't be replaced easily or cheaply...it all has to be considered.
Is turning a 37 year old defenseman into a couple of top 40 picks in a deep draft a good idea, even if the 37 year old defenseman is still a highly effective player? Is a 29 year old winger having a bad season, at least partly due to injury, a good trade chip? Should the Flyers consider trading a mid twenties winger who has been a solid producer over the past few seasons because of the trade value he has?
None of it is an easy decision. The guys we'd all like to deal are probably not going to be tradeable. |

They definitely should sell to some extent. They need more picks. Big decisions on most guys, they have time, because they're signed moving forward, or under the Flyers control to some extent. |

I wonder if they plan to add a cap geek-esque section to their site next - BulliesPhan87
Man I hope so. I feel blind without capgeek.
Although I'm not sure if the league wants the public to have that level of cap info. I really think there is something fishy about capgeek just abruptly ending |

Regarding the 37 year old...hell yes.
The 29 year old...won't get good value until this season proves to be an aberration.
Is the mid twenties guy the same guy who won the game last night? |

Agreed on the first two and yes on the third.
Not saying they should trade Simmonds or Read, but I close no doors. If somebody comes in and blows my doors off, I'm open to trading anyone. |

Regardless of what happens with Kimmo's comeback or the outcome, I will not care or be upset. I am just thrilled that he is able to play again and stick to his word of finish with his skates on. Such an honorable player. |
