I would look at Olsen. Could be a low risk move like Del Zotto.
I was wondering what Bill thought of Ryan Garbut. I know he has had some problems in Dallas. I love his speed and he plays a greasy game, can kill penalities. I wonder if you could swap Rinaldo for Garbut. Maybe a change would help them. I think Garbut is older. But just curious. - J35Bacher
Cap hit is 1.8.
Looks like there is some skill there. At least more than Rinaldo. |

Do you think that the coach was hesitiant to start Mason because of injury or health concerns, or because he wasn't sure if Mason would be game sharp due to a lack of practice time? - MJL
Both. |

Most NHL players have more skill than Rinaldo.
Heck, a large amount of AHL players, and maybe some ECHL players, have more skill than Rinaldo.
Why do we have Rinaldo again? |

That would depend on why he had to go out. There is also a hypothetical possibility that he plays 20 out of 21 games, and is fine. Looking at minutes played and games played of other goalies to this point, shows that Mason has played considerable less then a lot of goalies in the league. Also assumes that if he is playing, it's because he is healthy enough to play. Unless anyone thinks the Flyers should wrap Mason up bubble wrap, and save him for next year. - MJL
I'd have no issues shutting him down. Realistically should have had a lot more time off each time post injury. |

What's funny is that it's completely true. He did alter the game; the Penguins did fold. Pittsburgh held a 13-1 shot advantage. The hit -> rattled -> Penguins go away. Pittsburgh had disengaged top players and minor league guys looking to start a fight with a Euro. It was pitch perfect. |

No, the team rallying around each other to kill off his stupid penalty altered the game. Him taking a stupid 5-minute major did not alter the game. |

I'd argue that the Flyers got more momentum from killing off the 5 minute major than Idiot Boy changing the course of the game |

This is completely true but it also could have been the case that Pittsburgh keeps their composure and scores 3 times during the major. It's almost a statistical lock that Pittsburgh loses their goddamn minds from the core out in just this kind of situation. |

That's the point. The game changed AFTER the penalty kill, not at the onset of it. |

Rino knew it was a high risk/high reward maneuver. He gambled and the Flyers won.
Full props to him for sacrificing himself for the betterment of the team. We need more selfless dedication such as this. |
