Dumb luck is an assumption. That Mason came in and played without issue, and played well, is direct evidence that he was capable of playing in that game. - MJL
Coming out the other side uninjured isn't direct evidence that crossing a four lane highway with your eyes closed is a good idea.
They took a risk and came out okay. That doesn't justify the risk. Paint it any way you want. You assuming there was no risk because there was no injury is hind sight and faulty logic.

If he was limping and had a giant ice bag on his knee, I would hardly say he got through the game without issue.

The only problem with your analogy is that Mason playing in that game is not the equivalent of crossing a four lane highway with your eyes closed. There is an inherent and real danger for anyone at anytime to cross a four lane highway with their eyes closed. That is not the case for Mason playing in that game, other then the normal risks for any player, playing Hockey. Saying they took a risk is also an assumption. Obviously the Flyers and their medical staff thought that he was capable of playing.

Capable of playing and capable of playing in perfect health are 2 different things.

Was it more directed towards what he said? I didn't watch the game and work is blocking what you guys posted.

He probably said, "I BET YOU DON'T EVEN LIKE BACON!" and the ref was like, "STEVE, THAT'S NONSENSE, EVERY LIKES BACON. I FIND THAT TO BE A PERSONAL ATTACK ON MYSELF AND EVERY OTHER GOOD BACON-LOVING PERSON IN THE WORLD!"

Obviously.
That's what I put all my faith in. The track record of the Flyers and their medical staff. They've been spot on in the past. There's no good reason to question their decision making processes...

Over the course of an NHL season, players play all the time at less then 100%. It's part of the game. If the Flyers thought that Mason wasn't capable of playing, and that playing put him at further risk, I don't think he would've dressed as the backup.

I didn't say it put him at further risk. I said he had a head cold, which he admitted to after the game. That's why I think Emery started over him. Where did I ever say otherwise?

I seriously can't believe were still talking about this. How hard is this to understand^^^?
"Yeah, Eric, get on the plane, you're fine." - jmatchett383
Simon Gagne and JVR both played games with concussion symptoms and cost themselves lengthy time away from the game, but I think the staff has only been actually sued a handful of times.

You know, if you're a (frank)ing sheep.

My opinion on it is that there isn't a fan who has more insight and information available to them then the team does. That includes the GM, coaches, and medical doctors who have actually examined the player. Not to mention feedback from the player. Unless of course you want to look back in history and see a past incident, and just assume because something happened in the past, then we should doubt and criticize this situation. Rather then look at the available facts.

I didn't say that you did say that, nor was it my intent to imply that you did. It's simply a statement on the situation, and what I think happened.
