His stats and his plus/ minus look pretty good to me. Not to mention he brings a physical element that this team has not had since Pronger. This D core is too soft

BUT... He actually sucks as defense

Not really. He's not an exceptionally good defensive player, but he's no worse than Streit or any number of offensive defensemen.

He's an elite offensive defenseman, he moves the puck well and drives possession and he's been a big part of the Jets turnaround this season. I'd be interested in him, but not at the likely asking price.

Play him with our best Defensive player... Who ever that may be next year.
Streit is not very good playing D either, but he does his job in the big picture.
Buff would bring the physical game we so desperately need

We would be very fortunate if one of d prospects turns out to be as good as he is

I'm not cheering for losses, they just don't get me pissed off. I'm enjoying every win
- Jsaquella

When they play horrible, I still get pissed off. Im just an idiot who cares too much. I think they have the talent to string some wins together and I hope they do. I wonder if a Timo return (which now sounds possible) may spark them a bit. I can't expect him to just jump in after a few practices and be right back to form, but I think he'll help.

Side note, good news on Laughton.. I hope he's ok.

If Hexy chose to trade him, what would an acceptable return for Streit be?

While this is true, I just wouldn't want him, hard asset costs aside.

Now, Jacob Trouba, on the other hand...

Depending on who you ask on here, range could be from a 2nd rounder to a first + prospect.

I couldn't expect we'd get anything more than a 2nd and a prospect, and I don't know if I do it. Timo will be gone next year, and if we trade streit, it leaves a hole on our D. Sure we could slot Ghost in but that's rushing him. We can't sell everything and expect to field a team next year.

Now if someone is stupid enough to give up a 1st for Streit... see ya.

I get frustrated, but not pissed. I agree with Tangent Man, if they're not making the playoffs, go down swinging. But I can't get mad, because now it's a good opportunity to see who has the sack to be part of the future and who doesn't.

Don't forget, moving Streit clears $5.25mm in cap space, which allows them to go after a free agent in the summer. Maybe if they dealt Streit, they could sign Sekera or Green or Martin as a UFA.

No worries, it's likely nobody but Schultz is movable this TDL... we'll probably get to enjoy this same group of lovely dmen again next season,

Players that aren't good candidates to be moved at the TDL, could possibly be traded around the draft or in the off season. I doubt all of the regular defenseman will be back next season.

That's why I think Hextall should look at dealing Streit and Coburn..IF he can land a 1st for both of them. Cap space is cleared to sign a UFA and a number of 1st rounder for the Flyers to use in multiple ways

He should look at dealing anyone, if the price is right. Doesn't have to be at the TDL, either.

Let's see if they can handle the physical play of Big Buff. You knew when he was on the ice every shift last time they met. That is the type of player we need
- 3flyerkids

Byfuglien scored a goal in that game and he did dole out a bunch of big hits. You know what else he did? He directly contributed to three Flyers goals by being out of position or (on the final one) turning over the puck in a dangerous area. He ran around all game and did more damage to his own team that night that he did to the Flyers.

Playing under control, Byfuglien is an asset. Playing with zero discipline, he is a liability even when he does do some good things.

Pens and Caps had a fight filled game last night. Prettty entertaining stuff. I just wish the Flyers would stop making them play like that.
