Wonder if the Flyers would be interested in Dylan Olsen on waivers from Florida. Former 1st round pick, still only 24...not much of an offensive guy, but decent size & solid skating - Jsaquella
With an impending Kimmo fueled cap crunch, I'm not sure adding a contract is in the cards.
I agree. It's about the injuries plus the minutes. It's not the minutes in a vacuum. - mayorofangrytown
Injuries can heal. There's a difference between worrying about injuries, and calling out the lame duck coach and saying that he is going to run Mason into the ground to save his job.
That's the worry I have. Mason is going to say he can play, because he's a pro athlete and has pride and desire to play.
Berube may well be coaching for his job, so it's very possible that injury concerns are secondary to him. Mason is clearly the team's best goalie and gives them the best chance to win. - Jsaquella
It's a possibility, but the schedule till the trade deadline is not too bad (only one back to back) and Mason just got almost three weeks to rest & heal from a fairly minor injury when you compare it to what has happened recently to Bob, Howard and Rinne.
Gonna have to see some of this dead weight on defense gone soon. Man. It's an albatross in more ways than just the money. - Giroux_Is_God
Exactly -- doesn't have to be today, but yeah, as someone who doesn't want to see them miss the playoffs next year, too, I would like to believe that roster adjustments will be made

It's a little crazy when the coach says he didn't feel Mason wasn't ready to start but he yanks Emery after four shots and sends him in to play.
And look, I've watched this team all my life, they are NOT the most judicious in managing injuries. I don't even have to look it up. Their track record is abominable. They may not think they're out of the playoff picture but they are. Winning a game against Arizona this season really isn't important in the grand scheme of things. Lots of people on this team are playing for jobs but putting your goalie in there after one practice is a little bent. He really shouldn't have dressed.

The 30-minute Draft Preview show will include TSN Top 30 rankings. The TSN Top 60 rankings will appear on tsn.ca
I'm not letting that rush, and possibly ruin, the kids, tho.
Also, even if G's older when they finally can win it, he might not even be the guy they're depending on to drive the bus then. Hopefully they'll keep drafting/adding young F's in the meantime, some of which could similarly turn into special players. - Tomahawk
Fair points. Who knows if Giroux or Voracek are even on the team then. Too many variables at play to try and guesstimate. What will probably happen is Hextall will try and package some youth for a proven defenseman.

Hell, look at Mason's knee. He injured it against Ottawa, after playing 4 straight games off a back injury, and then started the next 2 games after, despite clearly dealing with discomfort in the knee in bot the Ottawa game and Washington game.
He returns from the knee and gets tossed back into a game after 5 minutes, without having a real practice and reportedly having skated only twice during his absence.

With them trying to open up room to bring Kimmo back, probably no.

Gotta put a claim in on a young guy like that. You would think a guy like that would be worth a late round pick minimally? Man we are not moving grossman

I'm still not sure how much interest Grossmann would drum up. There's other guys that should be available, on expiring contracts, who can provide similar play for similar or less cap hits

Yep, probably true. - Jsaquella
They've pretty much ignored the waiver wire this year, despite some decent players being available. With depth being a problem at all levels of the org, and roster slots open, you'd think they'd be putting in claims left and right.

4 straight games is not a lot. There's no reason to assume the knee injury had anything to do with the back injury. Goalies tweak their knees, hips and groins all the time without another previous injury being the cause.
As much as i hate the diRty daiper flyers i reSpect the fact that you aint good but no one is on here doibg this new loser trend of playin fOr t he reverse Stanley cup
Its sad to see the canes leafs Edmonton want their teams to do bad its a disgrace to SpoRts (frank)ing losers
You guys just waNt to do good like real men - GodIsaCatholic
