I'd rather see something really different

Matthias Sedin Vrbata
Higgins Bonino Hansen
Sedin Vey Burrows
Kenins Horvat Kassian

- kaptaan

I'd pull both Sedin's out and put them in the press box for the night.

They have 2 or 3 pretty bad long-term contracts on the books. Kessel is the one I would argue isn't that bad since he's an elite offensive talent at least, but still there's some risks with it....

Kessel with 7 more years after this until he's 35 at a 8M cap hit with a limited NTC. This is a guy who doesn't exactly work his ass off as a fitness freak, and his game relies a lot on speed. I don't see him being a 1st liner during the final couple of years of that deal. I could be wrong though, but the warning signs are there.

Phaneuf signed for 6 more years till he's 36 also with a limited NTC at a 7M cap hit. He's already overpaid IMO and I don't really see him getting better with age since technically he's in his prime right now...

And Clarkson still has 5 years left after this, already a horrible contract. He turns 31 this year so he'll turn 36 by the time the deal's done.

Just gonna throw this out there. Wouldn't mind seeing us put a Waiver claim on Olsen.

Numbers show that he was dragging down Gudbranson's play.

Mathias drives the net? I didn't watch Tuesdays game, did it start in that game?burrows drives the net better then anybody we have as sad as that sounds
- Bieksa#3

Matthias doesn't stand in front of the net much, no. He'll try to take the puck towards the net, but there's no way he spends more time near the crease than Burrows, Dorsett or Horvat.

Still looks better than Sbisa.... younger, bigger, more offense, if we are going to go with an experiment on D might as well go with the younger guy.

He's another lefty so basically it only makes sense if you want Stanton or Sbisa waived, and waiving Sbisa doesn't help since most of his cap hit would still count.

I don't think the cap is of too much of a concern at this point. I would be thrilled if Sbisa is waived, it would mean he likely won't be qualified.

I don't think the optics would look good for Benning if he waives or does not qualify Sbisa. He is part of the first and the biggest trade that Benning did as a gm.

Optics would show that he realized he made a mistake and isn't going to tie himself to that mistake for another contract for the sake of looking like he made a good trade.
