Optics would show that he realized he made a mistake and isn't going to tie himself to that mistake for another contract for the sake of looking like he made a good trade. - belcherbd
Defenseman geneally take a longer time to develop. And Sbisa moving from an Anaheim team with better D pairings and a different system to Canucks where he is thrown to the wolves with not so good parings is not enough of time given. I suspect if Sbisa is not traded, he will be taken to arbitration and offered the same deal that he has on 1 yr and if improves and long term if not then cut him next year. Smart money would be in trading Stanton. Free player picked off waivers and if we can get a 3rd/4th for him would be a steal. |

D-men do take longer but at 25 and 300+ games you usually know what you have in a player, or what you don't have. Sbisa would have to be offered at minimum 2.175 and I think you can find someone who can do what he does at a lot lower price. |

moved over from old thread...
Don't Canuck fans always complain about a lack of grit? So PIM is bad now? Last year he clearly didn't fit or enjoy playing under Torts. Sure, he probably did take a few stupid penalties, but he's one of the few good skaters we have and almost every player takes a stupid penalty every now and then. Normally he averages around 30-35 PIMs per season, that's perfectly normal.
If Kenins can be the player Hansen is, I'd be ecstatic, because Hansen is a rock solid role/bottom 6 player to have. I agree that he's an expendable asset because there's always decent bottom 6 players available for cheap via trade or UFA but I doubt he's going to bring in much in a return via trade.
I'd bet good money that Kenins isn't as good offensively or as skilled as Hansen, so he better be better defensively and physically to make up for that drop-off. - Nucker101
If Kenins can bring some energy and a bit more hitting than we have seen from Hansen or most of the forwards, then I will be happy with his play.
Just have to remember it is his first stint in the show and it might take a few games to actually see what he is all about.
the team's over all compete level has to go up. |

AHL officially announces Pacific Division. SJS,Anh,Cal,LA and Edm affiliates will be part of the division.
At least at this point it looks like the Canucks affiliate will not be part of this division.

Wonder what will happen to the Reign, Condors and Thunder...moved out east to better represent the "East Coast" league?
