Yea IMO Benning took advantage nicely of the WJC hype as well as the fact that CHI doesn't have room for their NHL ready prospects - bezz44
But, but, Benning said that he wasn't going to trade for a defence man.
I like it though. Sounds like he was in a similar position as Vey was this summer. |

Absolutely, we got a guy much further along in development while they fall victim to their own success. Don't get me wrong, Forsling showed some real promise during the WJC however Clendening has some superb AHL numbers and is ready to make the jump to pro at 22 years old. |

I think it's certainly an intelligent strategy, poaching players who are stuck in limbo |

I like it. The Canucks haven't been great at developing players, so we'll just let someone else do it for us. |

We all seem to agree this fills an organizational need in the here and now, anybody think maybe one of the current guys could be on the way out? |

There's a reason for that...
Clendening is great in the offensive zone. However, he's a dumpster fire in his own end.
He's got some quality talent, and might be fine as long as he's paired with a partner who is very responsible in his own end.
So what's the word on Forsling? |

Forsling was a WJC Allstar.. I believe he is in the Swede Elite league
Canucks got more immediate D depth n Chi bought time to develop a D man while they have no room atm.
If we falter n lookin like we miss the playoffs i can see a bigger TDL happening. |

Time will tell...
Doesn't sound like he was at the top of Chicago's depth chart... too early to tell, but not betting on him to be the second coming of Jeff Brown...
I liked Forsling too... he appeared dynamic at the wjc... |

Exactly, i fail to see how this is a bad move. Forsling was an extremely high risk high reward situation and frankly we already have one in J.Subban. Clendening, as sad as it sounds instantly becomes our best defensive prospect. |
