100 percent this.
while i dont necessarily think he is better than all of the guys you listed, mason is a damn fine goalie. certainly a guy you can build around.
while masons numbers are pretty good when standing on their own, i dont think numbers ever show the whole picture. until someone finds a way to adequately convey the quality of the shot attempt against. - stayinthefnnet
Right now, without considering team construction and contract, would you take Steve Mason over Marc Andre Fleury? |

Yes
MAF wilts far too easily
I wouldn't take him over Quick, Lundqvist, or Rask though. And before anyone gets their britches in a bunch, that is not a slam on Mason. |

i ask myself this a lot. and i really dont know.
i think people who would snap judgement to one or the other very quickly are failing to properly consider all factors.
fleury has done fine by me this season. if he plays this way into the postseason. i am fine with selecting him. but therein lies fleury's biggest issue.
fleury can make saves that mason simply physically cannot. if both are at their peak, fleury is the answer. but there are an awful lot of ifs in that qualifier, and in the playoffs, you dont get room for many of those. mason (at least when one considers his time with the flyers) has consistency in his corner, which is an important feather in the cap of a goalie. |

Yes,
Flower gets rattled more easily than Mase...I thnk Mase has a higher bar than flower has and I think we have seen the best from flower...we haven't seen Mase with a sound D in front of him |

Driving from Canada for the game tomorrow and hotel is on South Broad...Any suggestions for food around there? Also is it best to just drive to the game and park or is there a better option for transportation? - broadstreet11
I like Chickie and Pete's just around the corner....or Beny the Bums located at the holiday Inn Stadium...both are sports bars and food...also a cab ride into Pat's or Gino's is a must(if cheese steaks r your thing)...it's a 20$ cab there and back.....The locals tell me Jim's is better but I line Gino's...and what JSQ said...xfinity is pretty good as well. |

I agree with this. MAF is probably the most athletic goalie in the game. There are some saves that he makes semi-routinely that most other goalies have difficulty with. But, as you said, Mason is the more consistent goalie game-by-game. Also, Mason performed fantastically in the playoffs for the Flyers last year, and almost single-handedly won the Game 7.
Like you said, it depends on which MAF you're getting day to day. For me, I'd take Mason right now, but I think they both have the same amount of strengths and weaknesses. |

I'd stay away from XFinity Live unless you like crowded places, obnoxiously loud sound, and overpriced food. If you want a Philly Sports Bar, just stick to Chickie and Pete's. |

Mason naturally doesn't get his due because the media is just too lazy to look beyond the stats and watch what he does, game in and game out - though he currently holds a better save % than Quick, Lundqvist, Rask, and Crawford. - 77rams
ALSO.....He is doing all of this behind and pitiful defensive team, overall. |

yeah. i dont think you can really definitively say there is a right or wrong answer.
although this postseason will be quite telling for fleury. |

Toss Carey Price in there, too... MTL isn't a PO team w/o him. |

I went there when it first opened, and they didn't have half of the stuff on their menu. I went there after the Flyers/Pens game, and my friend and I just looked at each other about 10 seconds after walking in and walked right back out.
Just holds no interest for me. |

Meatheads and sluts galore. From what I saw, it was just a bunch of D-bags waiting in a line that ended nearly at the WFC ticket booth (thats an exaggeration). As soon as I saw that. I got in the car and went to a real bar. |

i mean i know they have the bullies bar or whatever the (frank) its called, but the whole enterprise isnt really that sports related to me. its really a place for just people to go and just exhibit everything that is wrong with people in their mid 20s. |

this is probably the most accurate description going.
its so awful.
it needs to be steamrolled and have its ashes thrown into the same black hole that the shamrock shuttle belongs in. |
