Not looking for a long term solution. Just a stop gap that you got for free and can trade in the future |

I don't think anyone can get him for two years. I think he will be looking for a 4 year contract and high money. There will be a bidding war and I don't want to be involved in it .
In free agency there are wave levels of the free agent.
First wave belongs to the stupid teams that throw stupid money and over rate the value of a average to decent player. That is where Vermette will fall in. He will be a Oiler Leaf Pen Or Pred.
After that the next waive is for the players left after the vultures have snagged their prize. This level is still expensive but serviceable like Vrbata Miller.
Next level is the smart shopper and you pick up a Derick Dorsett.
After that is the level of players that play in Europe or retire |

Don't want the club involved with any bidding wars.. but if the cap stays the same or drops a little, he may have to temper expectations...
Hoping there will be clubs like Chicago that have to choose which guy to let go and which guy to keep because of cap issues - trader Jim might be able to make a deal for a top 6 yet.
Drew Stafford was noticeable around the net, just wish he had a bit more finish, he is ufa next season with his buddy Miller here already. Damn his +/- is awful, hope it is just because of the team he is on. |

I don't know that Vermette is that much of a UFA target I think it's entirely possible we could get him for a decent price but I agree no point throwing stupid money around. I still would put Miller in the stupid money category |

If the cap doesnt go up as expected the hawks are (frank)ed. Under 2 mill for 8 players. Ditto for the kings. Be awful nice to head into the summer with a ton of cap space. |

The last report I heard is that it is locked in between 72 and 73, the cdn dollar will cause a small fluctuation but not very large apparently.

He's making top 10 goalie money and he is far from a top 10 goaltender. The only goaltender who makes more than him that shouldn't is Ward, and there are many that are making less that should be making more |

Yeah I don't see it.
I do see something like Kassian Higgins for Sharp.
Gives Chi some cap relief . We get an experienced (old) vet who knows how to score and is usually good in the playoffs. It gives Bonino a sniper.
Sharp has two more years at 5.9 and is just as reliable as ROR.
I know he is old , no need to bark t me . I can see him being available - VANTEL
Very possible...
Do you think ROR might be a bit more durable though? Sharp seems to be injured a bit more nowadays in/out of the CHI lineup...

We aren't getting back a team's top prospect or young roster player for our spare parts. Even from contenders, like Bezz said, if those teams really wanted to go all-in like that they'd target a Yandle/ROR/Eberle/Etc |
