You can't have too many shiny toys in a cap world.
Toews
Kane
Hossa
Keith
Seabrook
Shrp
Crawford
Hjaalmersson - VANTEL
Seems like the consensus on the CHI board is that 1 or both of Sharp/Bickell are out, not Seabrook or Saad. |

Soderberg should be a target. - Bieksa#3
He would be nice but I don't think there is anyway Bos doesn't make room for him, he is more important to that team than Smith/Paille/Campbell/Bartowski/Mcquaid/Krug going forward. I think the bruins will have to make some decisions, but I doubt Soderberg or Hamilton will be the guys they don't resign. |

ROR would cost too much Same as E Kane. We got to let that go. - VANTEL
Ya...fair enough.
What kind of increase do you think Kesler would have commanded if he had stayed here? That is if he had a good season here of course in the final few years of his contract...

He's making top 10 goalie money and he is far from a top 10 goaltender. The only goaltender who makes more than him that shouldn't is Ward, and there are many that are making less that should be making more - bezz44
When you are saying they should make more, are we talking 500k or 1mil?
Schneider seems to be one of the best bargains out there at 4mil.
There are a lot of younger goalies with good cap hits but they were unproven when they signed those contracts. Bishop in Tbay is another good example at 2.5mil, but he will be paid next contract just noticed he extended for 2 years at 5.95mil.
Would I have preferred Miller at 5mil or less? Of course.
But I think Miller is better than Crawford in Chicago, Howard in Detroit, Fleury in Pitts.... all within a million of his salary. Term should be considered too.
We could have done worse than Miller, but then again that wouldn't have been so bad either. |

lol...only reason I was asking was that maybe Benning is budgeting for the same kind of top 6 money that we would have spent on Kesler if he stayed...

If the cap doesn't go up at all. Which is a growing possibility. Will anybody even take Bickell for nothing? |

They have smarter ways to do it then making that trade. Be realistic here. |

Cap doesn't go up which is a growing possibility and the hawks move sharp they have a shade over 7 mill to sign 9 players. Saad being one of them. Saad gets even 4 mill and that's little over 3 mill to sign 8 players.
Oduya a ufa already making them not wanting to get thinner on the blue line. |

You lost me at Howard man, he is an excellent goalie and doesn't get the respect he deserves. I think the reason people get down on Miller is the term more than the actual salary. |

We aren't getting back a team's top prospect or young roster player for our spare parts. Even from contenders, like Bezz said, if those teams really wanted to go all-in like that they'd target a Yandle/ROR/Eberle/Etc - Nucker101

Isn't is projected to go up by a million or two? Apparently Oduya not getting re-signed is a forgone conclusion as well. I still think they find a buyer for Bickell, especially if they threw in a mid-tier prospect or a 2nd round pick with him to get a cheaper replacement for him through trade. |

All good, I don't have a problem with his salary... proven goalie. I don't see Howard as being any better or worse, just in the same category.
I look at Lu's salary, cap hit around 5.3 when he played here but with a long contract and ntc... I think we are in a better place with Miller and a shorter contract, just not sure about the details of his ntc. |

They were projecting up 3 mill. Now with the sagging Canadian $ they are suggesting it stays the same or maybe goes down a bit |
