I'd do Couturier, prospect & pick for OEL so fast your head would explode - Jsaquella
That's exactly the type of deal id be willing to trade Schenn or cooter within a package. Young solid dman still with upside. It's what we need to get this franchise back on the rails. You can get centres and wingers as Ufa s but dmen are worth their weight in gold. |

Instead of OEL, let's have cap "panic"
James Mirtle @mirtle 21s21 seconds ago
Bettman said last weekend NHL's cap would be ~$71.7-million if the dollar stayed at 80 cents rest of the way. Already down to 78.5 today. - Jsaquella
So goeth oil, so goeth the cap |

has anyone reported rumors that we are interested in ole or is the boards here just speculating possible deals? |

Hextall isn't dumb either. I bet he'd be right in there with an aggressive offer for oel if he was indeed available. I know it was just rumours but we all heard that he went aggressively after the 1 pick for ekblad. He know what the team needs.. He watched the value doughty brought to the kings when he was there. |

The Coyotes said that the only untouchable they had was Shane Doan, and the "touchables" included OEL |

i see, i know we need a franchise d, but I'm wondering if the same package for him would get us the 1st or 2nd pick at the draft? |

Man, the OEL debate is a balltwister . I love the guy. 23. Physical. not overly, but has that element. Puck skills off the chart. It would take a huge overpayment to acquire him. Id be very hesitant to pay the cost.
My standing, at this point, is to acquire picks and cap space or if its player for player to add multiple players per trade ie Richards & Carter. I don't like the idea of giving up multiple players and or picks to add one guy. But for OEL, its damn tempting.
Regarding #14, I lean towards MJLs thought of team construction and the value that Coots has now and as he develops but if I were to include him, it would be in order to give up less. Rather part with Schenn in this scenario

Nope. But say cooter, 1st and a prospect. I'd do it. Thing is, he's a more known quantity and we do have some d in the pipeline that we might even be able to flip to them. I'd be all over that trade but I can't see Arizona trading him . |

I'll explain where my hesitation is. I believe to build a cup team, you need to be strong on defense, and strong up the middle, which includes goaltending and the center position. I think you need that 1-2 punch at center, and I don't believe either Schenn or Laughton will be as good as Couturier will be when all is said and done. - MJL

As it seems Josi would be out of the fold due to Nashville's awakening, Brodin would be my guy. Especially with the Wild floundering in mediocrity.
The expense of OEL imo wont have a deal made unless one of Voracek of Giroux is involved. |

I'd swallow REALLY hard, try to drop Baby Schenn in there, but at the end of the day, I'd do that, too
Because then you could keep Coburn, Grossmann and Streit, MDZ and Schenn, and see if you could move MacDonald
OEL-Coburn
Grossmann-Streit
MDZ-Schenn
With Morin getting one year on the farm and Ghost getting more recovery time and experience, you could still be winning hockey games
Just a dream, though -- they're not moving OEL. They're just talking tough

That's what part of the discussion is. A suggestion of Simmonds, Brayden Schenn, Morin and a 1st in 2016, for OEL was made. I think that's too much.

Not to crush the dreams but why the (frank) would Arizona move OEL, a proven elite commodity for a bunch of lesser pieces, or more importantly unknowns relying on "potential".
A team that has been rebuilding for years and needs a star to hope to stay relevant. OEL is a proven elite d-man, even at his age. I don't see him moved for unproven players unless its the #1 or #2 pick. Especially not for (perhaps too harsh), a bunch of mid tier mediocrity in Coututier and Schenn. |
