Lol no. Mason>Smith, G and Jake > anyone on the Yotes roster.
Raffl G Jake
Read Schenn Simmonds
PEB Laughton RJ
VDV Vinny White
OEL Coburn
MDZ Schenn
Manning Grossman
Coots, this year's 1st, Morin for OEL
Streit for a 1st.
You're essentially trading Coots and Morin for OEL and moving down in the 1st round of the draft. - hereticpride
Exactly -- it could be done and while they won't be able to depend on Couts to play every single hard minute that he does, they'd survive

To me, you'd almost be getting two players back, because get the right partner for him and we might get Good Coburn back doing what Good Coburn does |

What's interesting about Coburn is, we know he's good. He's having an offseason but we know he's the type of player any team needs to win. When I look at the body of work Coburn, Grossmann and our D as a whole. They'd be fine if they had a number one defense. For example, take our entire team without Giroux, this is our defense as a whole without a number one defenseman. When I see someone blame one guy for a loss, the reality is what we don't have and what we're making players to to stay above water. |

I agree that a number of Flyers losses are because guys just aren't slotted properly on defense
I mean, seriously. I like MDZ. I want him extended. But if he's playing 25 minutes a night, you've got to look at what you can do to rectify that

I saw an argument on here a little while ago when Coburn made a foolish play against O'Riley in OT against the Aves. Honestly, I would I could find and show you a montage of Del Zotto buffoon defensive plays in his own end. The Beau Barnett goal against the Pens comes to mind. Nick Bonino's goal was poorly played by Del Zotto against the Canucks. The baffling wrong side Martin Erat goal against the Yokes. This is fish out of water stuff. |

Ha! I like Del Zotto's game a little more than you, but yeah, I'd have him on the third pair at 18-ish minutes a night
The Flyers are banged up, true. But if Nick Schultz has played no worse all season than second-best of all the defensemen you have on your roster, you need to upgrade your roster
That's not disrespecting anyone's favorite player, nothing like that. That's just pointing out that this is professional sports, and Nick Schultz being no worse than second-best 50 games into a season absolutely, positively and without a doubt isn't nearly good enough

Not if you read this thread today they've been traded in many scenarios. |

The biggest reason for my willingness to include a prospect & young roster guy is Ekman-Larsson's young age. He's younger than Simmonds & Voracek and he's about 1 month older than Brayden Schenn. |

Besides, they keep winning, that pick ain't gonna be worth poop. 8th pick right now, win tonight and they almost out of the top 10. |

I'm interested in what Hexy apparently offered Florida at the draft for Ekblad. Simmonds was apparently the deal breaker, right. Gotta imagine the prices would be similar. |

They've been used on both units, Calgary has struggled on the power play & have been switching things up during the game. |

Instead of these crazy trades for OEL, here is a crazy trade for Trouba:
To WPG: B. Schenn, Simmonds, Coburn
To Philly: Trouba, 2nd round pick
Followed by:
To LA: Amac
To Philly: Richards (salary difference retained by LA), 2nd round pick
Winnipeg significantly bolsters playoff depth to compete in the West, LA gets out of Richards contract and adds a defenseman |
