Instead of these crazy trades for OEL, here is a crazy trade for Trouba:
To WPG: B. Schenn, Simmonds, Coburn
To Philly: Trouba, 2nd round pick
Followed by:
To LA: Amac
To Philly: Richards (salary difference retained by LA), 2nd round pick
Winnepeg significantly bolsters playoff depth to compete in the West, LA gets out of Richards contract and adds a defenseman - aflyerpower8

I've watched the Leafs three times in the last 10-12 days, and they have looked a little worse each time
In other words, they better not bring their asses to the WFC and get a win |

Suffice it to say I wouldn't feel comfortable betting on this game |

I could bring up that the CDN dollar is dropping still, and have a post telling us it won't adversely affect the cap |

Ah No.
Unless there is something that totally blows my mind the only deals I would looking to make at or before TDL are moving 3 Dman.. Weather that be Streit and Coburn for 1st picks in return. Or Schultz, L Sxhenn, Grossmann for 2nd or 3 Rd rounders.
Then Hexy can do his thing at draft and UFA signing day

Not the slightest bit interested in Richards and that contract. It will do nothing but hinder the team in the long run. He isn't even worth 3 mil a year for 3 years to me. 5 year @ 5.75 is b.r.u.t.a.l. |

what would you trade for OEL - Winning
I want to offer Michael Raffl, Scott Laughton, Robert Hagg and our first this season.
What's more realistic is one of Brayden Schenn or Sean Couturier, Samuel Morin or Travis Sanheim and our first this season.
What should get it done is Wayne Simmonds and our first this season. |

We would be sending back the same contract with them retaining salary the main reason I put it in, besides my strong desire to see Richards back in the orange and black, is because we gave away two forwards in the first deal. |

Yes the trading for player after player trying to win a cup has worked out so well over the years |

At least there is some logic behind discussing OEL. Some guys here still want to trade for Weber, and even better think Nashville would move consider moving him when they're one of the best teams in the league and gearing up to be a serious cup contender over these next few years. |

AMac playing at his current level contributes a heck of a lot more than Richards would. Its a pass for me. |

Fair enough. I think Trouba is going to be a top pairing defenseman and that Winnipeg having two right handed shooting top four defenseman already (Bogo and Buff) could allow us to get him without trading Mase, Giroux, Jake, Sanheim, Morin, or our first this year. |

I'm interested in what Hexy apparently offered Florida at the draft for Ekblad. Simmonds was apparently the deal breaker, right. Gotta imagine the prices would be similar. - hereticpride
You know, I'm sure Giroux can get you a Shea Weber, it doesn't mean you should make that deal. Guys like Giroux, Voracek, Mason and Simmonds are important to this team. Beyond them, we've gotta be careful. I wouldn't trade Sean Couturier, Brayden Schenn, Samuel Morin or Travis Sanheim for anything unless that something brings a lasting impact on the blue line. |
