That's exactly my mindset. Letang isn't this innocent squeaky clean player. If Rinaldo wanted to killLetang, Letang would be dead. - SuperSchennBros
That fight, (back then), really pi$$ed me off.
He purposely picked him out.

Hitting players is away to ware down the teams opponents. What does Rinaldo bring if he's not hitting? He's not going to simply forfeit his spot on the team. Sometimes hits are late. It's all depends on the timing in a fast pace. Personally I could careless about Letang. Letang is fine.
Carcillo and Downie are far more undisciplined. - SuperSchennBros
Has nothing to do with Letang and nothing to do with wearing down opposing teams with hits and (frank) all to do with late hits. It has to do with playing within a system and being disciplined within the system, not blowing coverage to go hit somebody.
If he's out there, running around and not playing his position, the system breaks down and allows the other team to have chances. There's more to being undisciplined than taking penalties and getting suspended.
EDIT: Downie and Carcillo have had seasons of more points and goals, and are players that always find a team, because they are not completely undisciplined. They can play within a system and stay in that system. Rinaldo can't, because he's a moron who only cares about hitting. |

Like I said, Rinaldo isn't a very talented player. It's pretty clear why Downie and Carcillo are still in the league, outside of this belief that Downie and Carcillo aren't completely undisciplined. Maybe I'm wrong but isn't Carcillo suspended himself right now?
If Rinaldo breaks down our system within his three to five minutes of play and he's the reason why we're not very good this year, this team has much bigger issues. In fact, you could argue we do. Rinaldo taking a regular shift on the second line is an issue I blame squarely on the Coach.
I would still take Steve Ott if we could get him. |

Think you are misunderstanding. Discipline, in terms of getting penalties and being suspended is one thing. Playing disciplined hockey, staying within a system and filling an assigned role from a coach is different.
Yes, Carcillo and Downie are undisciplined players. They take stupid and reckless penalties. They also play and have played for teams where they filled roles because they could play hockey and stay within a system, without being a liability to their teams.
Rinaldo can't play within a system for an extended period, because he starts skating around looking to hit people to the detriment of the team system. That doesn't always lead to penalties, but it's undisciplined play, just the same. The fact that he also takes way too many penalties and gets suspended just makes him more undisciplined overall than the other lunkheads. Add in that he's not as skilled as them, and it's pretty much a total wasted roster space.
Also, I've never said Rinaldo is the reason the Flyers have struggled this season, so kindly don't put words into my mouth. I agree Rinaldo playing on the second line, whether it's due to injuries or not, is pretty bad decision making by the coach. But it's not the reason that the Flyers find themselves as the 8th worst team in the NHL today and it has nothing to do with Rinaldo's inability to play disciplined hockey or stay in control of his game and avoid being a stupid player.
Berube was wrong to use a stupid, out of control idiot like Rinaldo on the second line. But that doesn't make Rinaldo less stupid or undisciplined. |

I don't believe Carcillo and Downie take less penalties or get suspended less. They are however more talented players. With the chemistry Downie had with Couturier and Read, I would have reaigned him at a million...but the new culture demands discipline.
