It was a bad play call. Fact. - BulliesPhan87
And somewhere in Arizona, Collinsworth is still going on about it.

I still would have run Lynch. They had two time outs, and 3 downs. I also probably would have called something where Wilson could have rolled out, rather than stand in the pocket and have to throw into the middle.
But better execution, and Carroll looks like a ballsy genius - Jsaquella
Oh I no problem with that line of reasoning. I would have run Lynch as well.
But Carroll's reasoning that they stacked the box, so he wanted to see if he could catch them with 2 downs to go? I have no problem with that either. Now if it were 4th down? That is different.

Plus it was only 2nd down. Its not like they went for the pass on a third or 4th down. I don't think the call was bad and we are only talking about it because it was intercepted. If it was incomplete and they handed the ball to Lynch on 3rd down no one is even talking about it.
This is even worse than people second guessing the weathermen from last week because the storm shifted east and we didn't get hammered like they did up North. I didn't hear anyone complain that they got it right up there. - MBFlyerfan
When you are on the 1yard line with the " Beast " in your back field, there really is only 1 call to make especially when you have a timeout. just a horrible call. There is a chance for more to go wrong when ball is in the air. No excuse.... Unless it was fixed! |

Hated the play call. So much other things could go wrong throwing over the middle like that. A tip at the line of scrimmage, a tip off the receivers hands, etc. awful play all.
With one timeout, I run lynch or fake a read option to lynch and have Wilson sprInt out with a pass option if he's going to put the ball in the air. C'mon now bad call |

Agree. Wilson is the QB you would want to get out of pocket to make that pass... The ONLY pass you would consider to attempt in that situation. Still...it makes me wonder if Carroll had money on the Pats. |

It was borderline. I thought the same thing as you when I saw it, could have gone either way.
That was an entertaining game. - Jsaquella
I was just curious.
I am not defending Rinaldo but if that was him would he get the benefit of the doubt.
Also same game backes is ejected for a boarding call. Will he get any games?
Again not defending Rinaldo at all. Just looking at the difference because of names.

Obviously stars get different treatment. Ovechkin has had several hits over the years that a non star would get dinged for, and Evgeni Malkin is a pretty dirty guy himself.
As for Rinaldo, he's not a star, but he's also not deserving of getting the benefit of the doubt. Yes, he does get called for his reputation. The trouble is, he forged that reputation. He's been a discipline issue going back to juniors, he's unwilling or unable to change.

Original post was about MDZ playing well... no idea why you're trying to turn it into another fight over AMac.

One of the worst play calls in NFL history. Hand the ball off to Lynch, who is pretty much unstoppable at the goal line from that distance, and the Seahawks are celebrating back to back Super Bowl wins.

I get that. And not disagreeing at all.
I just found it funny because the Backes hit is clearly the hit from behind everyone talks about but I am curious if he gets any games.
Also if they actually called some of the star players for penalties they would actually be repeat offenders. So many times Ovechkin jumps into hits. |

I'd bet Backes doesn't get any, because Alzner returned to the game. The NHL will tend to count injury as a factor.
I agree that a star player should be held to the same standard as an average player. Some "star" level player do get held to that standard. James Neal, for one. Mark Messier & Chris Pronger are star players who had numerous suspensions for dirty hits or stickwork.
Ovechkin has avoided suspensions in the past for hits that would see other players get suspended. It's one of the biggest issues people have with the NHL's Dept of Player Safety. |

It's completely unobjective to look more deeply at stats. Can't we all just accept that AMac is playing great and ignore that part of the reason he is, is because the Flyers are using him against weaker competition?

In the NHL, for defenseman, there is no such thing as weak competition. MacDonald is playing strong hockey because he is simply a pretty good defenseman. Simple as that. |

I'd say any line featuring Zac Rinaldo or Jon Scott would be weak competition. |
