I'd say any line featuring Zac Rinaldo or Jon Scott would be weak competition. - jmatchett383

Good old HockeyBuzz...where weaker used as a comparative term automatically equals weak!
Holy intentional mischaracterization of a point! |

Large discrepancy between passable, average, good, top-pair, and elite when you talk about defensemen. I'd say he's a good, overpaid defenseman. |

I don't think QoC is as strong as an argument for/against a player as I used to, but to think it's a non-factor is ignorant. |

If AMac is not the second coming of Chris Pronger, he's automatically the second coming of Jaroslav Modry. |

In the NHL, for defenseman, there is no such thing as weak competition. MacDonald is playing strong hockey because he is simply a pretty good defenseman. Simple as that. - MJL
I usually agree with you, but this time even I have to at this statement. |

Okay, the second coming of Jeff Finger or NYR-era Wade Redden. |

They're simply not a good hockey team (despite the QoC). |

Shot attempts for and against dont really matter to me. What are the quality of shots? For instance Del Zotto may have allowed 21 shots that game while on ice but were they all just perimeter? Meanwhile Amac allowed fewer shots but did he allow the big scoring chances? Also Del Zotto is playing against tougher competition... Long story short.... Del Zotto is better than Amac. I dont think there are many people that will argue that |

Hyperbole!
I get that. McDonald is what he is...he's being utilized properly in a secondary role, & overall he's been OK |

I think the standard by which QoC is judged is suspect. Regardless of that, there certainly is a difference in competition between playing against a top line versus a 3rd line. Even with that difference, there is no easy competition in the NHL. As a defenseman, if you don't play your position well, no matter who the opposition your up against is, you can look bad. |
