Good old HockeyBuzz...where weaker used as a comparative term automatically equals weak!
Holy intentional mischaracterization of a point! - Jsaquella
This is an assumption that my reply to you was mistaking weaker for weak. That is not the case. |

I usually agree with you, but this time even I have to at this statement. - MBFlyerfan
Instead of laughing, which I find funny by the way, state why you disagree. |

Phoenix will magically miraculously win the lotto, so yeah. - Tomahawk
MacDavid up front, and OEL on the backend. An embarrassment of riches. |

Shot attempts for and against dont really matter to me. What are the quality of shots? For instance Del Zotto may have allowed 21 shots that game while on ice but were they all just perimeter? Meanwhile Amac allowed fewer shots but did he allow the big scoring chances? Also Del Zotto is playing against tougher competition... Long story short.... Del Zotto is better than Amac. I dont think there are many people that will argue that - GOA88
I think you have to look at each player individually. I think that they each have their strengths and weakneesses. I think MacDonald is a little better defensively in coverage, and in outletting the puck on breakouts. Not that Del Zotto is bad defensively, because I like the way he has been playing in his own end defensively. I think where the biggest edge is Del Zotto is more dynamic offensively and is providing that element of supporting the rush and moving up on the play that the Flyers really need. Also one of the areas where I think MacDonald can get better at, and use his speed and puck skills better. He needs to be more aggressive offensively. |

I get that. McDonald is what he is...he's being utilized properly in a secondary role, & overall he's been OK - Jsaquella
He's been better then okay, he's been pretty darn good in a 2nd pairing role. |

I think Amac is better at reading the play defensively and positioning. Overall.... MDZ is the superior player in my mind. Just as a total package outlook. |

I think overall Del Zotto is better right now also. His offensive ability is making a bigger impact right now. |

Overall their about the same. I might lean slightly to MDZ. Neither are worth the money that their playing for.
They are both a solid 2nd pairing option as long as the partner is very very solid |

I think Del Zotto at his current level of play is a bargain for what he is getting paid. |

I don't think Del Zotto has been better defensively. I think MacDonald's play in his own end, combined with his ability to move the puck is overlooked. Not that Del Zotto is playing poorly defensively, because he's also playing well defensively. |

Evaluation of talent shouldnt come secondary to urgency/desperation when giving out contracts. - jak521
Agreed. Especially when the talent level isn't exactly a rarity. There's a lot of guys out there who can do what MacDonald does. The Flyers decided to pay him a premium for that level of ability.
I'd love to sit here and not criticize the Flyers. The trouble is, they're paying $75mm in salary for a 22nd place team. Want to ignore or downplay the stats? Fine. Look at wins and losses. The highest payroll in the league for a bottom third team in the standings.
That's the bottom line. |

just a thought with all the Arizona coyotes trade talks, what does anyone think of a trade like this: b. schenn/ couturier + Simmonds for OEL? |

Yeah it will suck when they land Eichel. Busty McBusterson. - PLindbergh31
Connor McDavid projects as a "generational talent." Jack Eichel projects as a really good player. |

I'd hate to lose Simmer, but I'd consider it. I'd be open to say Schenn or cooter, cousins and a high pick. It's a lot, but you have to overpay get these young dmen. |

It's likely going to cost way more then that. If OEL is truly available there will be 20+ teams interested probably. |
