Well good, and I was just saying what a crap offer. Either people think less of Myers than we think if he was expected to sweeten the deal with two more pieces on top of Myers for just ROR or they are trying to play Murray or just throwing crap at the wall and seeing what sticks. Who knows but you would think it would be ROR ++ for Myers just because of their contract situation. |

My thought is that the ++ would have to come the other way as well.
Sakic is obviously starting the conversation, but I don't think Murray is that dumb. |

Yeah... That's way too much.
If it was a bigger deal, which you would have said, the other way.. then depending what it was, then okay.
It doesn't appear that to be the case, so Murray made the obvious choice. |

Teams think because Myers is having an off year that Murray will give him away, foolish to think that IMO. |

I'm not saying that, that is not a horrible offer for myers, and he shouldn't command more. But I will say, this isn't an off year for myers, this is pretty much what we have been getting from him, minus the first 40-50 games of his career. |

That must have been a quick conversation and I hope Sakic doesn't get his calls returned in a timely manner by Murray in the future. |

Agreed, especially when Grigs could become as or more productive than rorzzz. Hell, we may have him in Girgs, albeit a little less of a scoring touch.
All in all, not worth it by a long shot. |

He scored 10 goals in 80 games his 2nd season, then 8 goals in 55 games his 3rd.
I think it's safe to say he is a 10 goal 35-45 point player on a competent team.
Which is nowhere near what he has been lately because of this team.
He also is being used as a defensive defensemen right now. That won't be the case when we are a good team.
I'm sorry but the notion that he has peaked offensively is just false. The Sabres collectively have had a bad offense every year of his career outside of 1 or 2 seasons |

Myers on the Ducks would likely be paired with Stoner or Beauchamin.
Both are defensive defenseman, meaning Myers can create the offense (much like Lindholm and Vatanen do now) and not be as worried about getting back. The forward group there is also aware when their defensemen are pinching to make a play. |

This isn't safe to say. I believe he has hit 30 plus points twice in his career. His numbers are slightly down, not dramatically down. |

No players like him are annoying they have all the talent in the world and just waste it and are ok with being just " ok " to "good" when you could be great
if he went training with gray roberts he could be the next Cody Hodgson etc ..
he will just be a guy that will collect his money and play when he wants to AKA .. chris stewart , drew stafford those types - gerbe75pts

It feels like there is more and more smoke with this possible trade of Myers. I am a huge fan of Myers and part of me wonders if we will take a step back next year without him (not that the short terms matters too much). In a way he kind of reminds me of a healthy CC Sabathia. He is a borderline star that eats up huge minutes and kind stablizes the staff and allows others to play in lesser roles. I don't think that it is a huge coincidence that things started to go south when he went down. |

Again, the 2 years we had a competent team.
His 3rd season he would have eclipsed 30 had he played a full year, and last year he had 22 points in 60 games playing for the worst offensive team in decades.
Stats on this team over the last few years are relative.
Scoring 9 goals in 60 games playing with this team is impressive IMO

I don't think he is, either.
On this team, he should have 10 points.
I think his defensive play is good this year, though his offense is certainly taking a hit due to his teammates. |

If we get a capable defenseman back, I don't see why we would take a step back next year.
Plus you look at getting a UFA or a team in cap trouble and trade for one/two of them ala the Islanders. |

Yeah, I hear you with all that. "Capable" isn't necessarily a horse like Myers. That's why I am also of the mindset that it has to be a significant overpayment. |

IMO the depth at forward has made them look much better than they are.
They remind me of the 05-06 Sabres. |
