The part with him having twins and wants stability sounds like something Pegula would take to heart and might want to provide him with that. - rmiethaner
I agree with you but, we haven't heard anything of him staying. So I guess it's just a matter of time unless things change. |

I don't see any reason why the Sabres should move him. He has shown grit and scoring ability. Like you, I wish that Stafford was the one that looked more attractive in the trade market right now instead of Stewart.
Gionta is done. Mez and Benoit are done. Besides Gorges, I think that Stewart should be that vet to teach and mentor the young kids on the team. |

Trading Gorges makes no sense at all, we gotta pay someone and moving Stewart IMO we could keep him rather then take another pick. We can get picks with other parts we move.
Someone mentioned earlier about moving Gorges. |

I'm not opposed to keeping Stewart as a stop gap player, but he knows some team will overpay and give him 5-6 years on the open market. I don't see the reason to give him a big contract. |

I don't know, He is 27 and has really only had one good year producing as a first round pick when he was with the Av's. Even St Louis fans were happy to get rid of him.
I honestly don't see any team wanting to trade or over pay for long term contracts on him or Stafford.
That quote that 89 posted screamed he is more concerned about life than hockey, and Pegula knows how to take advantage of that. |

There is no guarantee that he'll re-sign here and for a couple worthless months why not get a 2nd round pick and maybe a bit more for him and then if the Sabres want to try to re-sign him then do it after July 1st. He'll no doubt want to have teams bid for his services and get the best deal possible and not sign until he's a FA anyway. |

They seem to be worth equal to what we got with Ott. |

He is on the ice more than anyone else on the worst team in the NHL currently and in NHL history. That says a lot. Anyway, perhaps why Murray has no problem listening to offers and why he is not untouchable by a long shot. - GilPerreault11
He's on the ice the most for the worst team in the league and gets scored on the least.
On the ice the most against the toughest competition = more chances he can get scored on. Yet he gives up the least amount of goals. Even with average to bad forwards. Sure I would like to have more points out of him but when he is too busy trying to keep the other team from scoring what can you expect?
Also he made Strachan look like a good 4th nhl D when they were paired together. So he does make players better around him.
I'm not saying he is untouchable but it's going to take a helluva offer to move him if I'm Murray. |

True, but how many more draft picks do the Sabres need? Isn't there a number of contracts a team can have?
And I guess my point about wanting to stay here because of his family situation is something that nobody really knows. Plenty of athletes choose that over their career's. We shall see. |

And he is terrible. St Louis fans (at least on this site), don't want him around and wish they never had him. |

Keeping Stewart and not getting a pick won't hurt us, how may picks do we possibly need? |

Agreed. We need a team and not a sophmore AHL team. |

I think that the hate has gone too far
But I also think there's a lovefest going on by some
He's NOT a #1 defenseman yet
And when I say "#1" I mean on a team like Chicago, LA, etc
BC the goal is to win the Cup
I don't care whether or not Myers could be a #1 on Toronto, Winnipeg, etc BC we want to be WAY, WAY better than that
He's certainly back on track and trending upwards
And it would take a lot for me to want to trade him - jdfitz77
Weren't you just shouting how ridiculous it is to say players should be good "HERE", not how they'd play on other teams?? |

Going to be biased here, but I loved Brad May.
I remember the days when Ray would fight and I would turn to my dad and say "Watch, May will go next" And he would.
And then I would say to my father "Now watch Barnaby wants to be like them". And he would go.
Miss my dad.
But I heard that May had the hardest right hand and everyone was afraid of him. Didn't he go after Claude Lemieux once while he was skating away and dropped him? I don't know. Cant find it on YouTube. |

They aren't going to sign that 2nd round pick for at least a couple years and they could trade it to move up at the draft. It beats gambling and losing Stewart for nothing. |

I understand that Murray won't let players go for nothing but, Stewart would be a nice piece to go forward with. Maybe the security he's looking for helps his play even more. Hard when you have a family and young kids but don't really have a place to call " home".
We all post on here about trading this player and that player and it's easy for us but, it's not for players like Stewart. We can't ice an AHL roster next year we have to have NHL players and I would rather have a player like Stewart to add with what we have. My opinion. |

My roster actually isn't too bad, I think 1 guy has 2 games, the rest are 3 or 4, so it wasn't a horrible mistake I guess.
I assume my opponent hasn't changed in a while, they still have Okposo on the roster. |
