Makes our "D" depth not look so deep or talented. That cupboard needs some restocking . - cabin
I've been saying there's a huge drop off in depth on the blueline for a while. They do have 3 solid guys there that will be NHLers, but they all have a fairly similar skill set. Pysyk and Ruhwedel are positional Dmen. Neither are the type that are going to be overly physical or clear the front of the net consistently. McCabe has a bit more snarl in his game, but he's still very much like Pysyk and Ruhwedel. Too much of the same. That's not to say they're bad, but the guys behind them aren't really anything great.
The next two guys that will probably make the NHL roster at some point aren't even in the AHL right now, and that's Brycen Martin (JR) and Anthony Florentino (NCAA). |

You are comparing rookies to a 6 year veteran outright like there should be no growing pains for those guys. They have to get to the NHL, play/learn the toughest position and have no growing pains. Wow, you're tough. I at least gave Myers 6 years before I said I'd rather the parts he might bring for the rebuild than his give aways, and limp PP's. - GilPerreault11
And let's be totally fair here.
In the eyes of some here, Myers can do no wrong, there is always an excuse made for him.
It's beyond old. |

Trading any of our D at this time is a no-no for me.
Myers, Risto, Zad, Pysyk, McCabe is the future of this team.
Draftin 1st-2nd gets you your generational talent. You should (In theory after the deadline) then have 2-3 additional 1st rd picks you could trade away for immediate forward help without taking away from the D |

Just looked at the NHL standings.
All these teams from the top down: Won 1, lost 1 , won 1 , won 2, lost 2 , and so on and so forth...until you get to 30th. Sticks out like a midget on a basketball court. - grand-magus

They're going to have to get more veteran defensemen from somewhere, no matter how deep this prospect pool is or isn't. Playoff experience and winning experience is key, and it is something they have very little of. |

He played like a 4th line boarder line AHLer from 10/9-12/13.
4 points in 39 gp
It's these two stats as to why when he is moved will make it 4 teams in 5 seasons.
Inconsistent unmotivated play has been his MO. - dadeadhead
THIS is it. He was traded from a very good team that should be a sign, if we give him a contract you have no idea if he'll go back to normal and try a quarter of the games |

Ultimately, they sound as poorly coached as the Sabres are. - buffalofan19
Agreed, also a very very young team (even more of a reason to find a new coach) Look at traverse city. We have talented players, they just need to play together from the start |

I've never seen anyone here say that. Some value him more than you do. Nothing more, nothing less. I've never seen anyone argue that he is perfect or a top 10 defenseman in the league. |

I am not here to argue.
I'm not crazy, there is always an excuse made by certain posters here for Myers bad play.
And there is no debating that really.
It is what it is and I can't wait till Myers is outta here.

As much as I want to tank, every time I see that compilation of "bottom 4" defensemen, I die a little inside. It's one thing to have one or two players with no business on an NHL roster, but 4 is just unacceptable. I thought Meszaros would have improved after being gift-wrapped another opportunity, but I was clearly mistaken. |

IMO and my opinion only, The goal was to get the 1st or 2nd pick and even I thought they wouldn't tank but it's happening. Everyone on here wanted that pick but people keep complaining that the team stinks, the coach stinks, we can't compete, we have little talent, why can't they put good games together,it's Myers , it's Moulson, it's Hodgson, it's Stewart. all kinds of stuff back and fourth.
I can't understand why some are mad at what is going on, this is what everyone wanted was to SUCK and they do. We are last in the league, we can't score, can't stop a puck, can't stop a rush coming in the zone, can't pass..... it's perfect.
But people still complain and want players gone and Nolan fired ( I want ceratin players gone) We can't win games, score, and still draft 1st or 2nd, it won't happen. Why people are still unhappy is beyond me, who cares how they play or the effort they give, we want the pick that is the GOAL and nothing else. |

It's one thing to suck. It's another to look like you don't have a clue. And that's the problem with this team. |

IMO< Its silly to judge anyone on this team. Every player in that locker room knew what the end game was this year. To draft 1st overall. They all know at the deadline any older talent will be moved out of here, further setting them up to fail.
I don,t think people give enough credit to that and the fact the players know exactly what is going on. |

The question for me is whether being THIS BAD hurts the team's chances when they decide to flip the switch. Obviously, there are going to be big changes in the roster, but some of these guys HAVE TO stick around (and should). I worry that the ones we want to stick around are being damaged by being exposed to this environment, and I don't just mean the young guys. Even the vets are starting to get so disgusted that I wonder if it could have lasting effects.

Exactly. Sit back and take pleasure in watching the standings and our prospects when they are on tv. Come the summer this will all be forgotten and things will count for real next year. I couldn't care less what happens this year as long as we finish last.

Everyone knew the deal coming in.......... The Buffalo Sabres are rebuilding..... and if they didn't know, shame on them. Gorges, Gionta and Moulson knew the deal as did the players we still have. It will change they just have to go with it and except what's happening now for a better future. |

I don't put much stock into this. Chicago, Pitt, LA even WSH were able to "flip the switch"
It is due to the amount of all around talent. Once they get better talent the "Atmospehere" will change |

The Sabres are in better shape then most teams in the league, so other GM's Coaches and Players can make fun of the Sabres all they want right now but they will happily take Pegula's money when things start to turn around. |
