Someone said earlier that if Stewart wasn't on the last year of his deal they'd like to keep him. I'd go one step further. We should re-sign the guy. And not because he is finally scoring. We have complained for years that the Sabres don't have a player willing to step up and protect their players a la Lucic running over Miller. This guy came in and went toe-to-toe with Lucic and held his own. I think he could be a great 3rd line, rugged wing who can play the powerplay on a playoff Sabres team. He also can step up a line or two if injuries come up. I understand he is the best piece we have to acquire anything at the deadline, but unless he gets a 1st and a really good prospect why trade him?

He's an extremely inconsistent goal scorer
Isn't a common theme here that we have enough "3rd line" type guys?
As far as trading him goes...
Even if all u get is a 2nd, we can draft a talented player or use it to move up to get a particular guy Murray may be targeting.
With the amount of teams that will be in cap trouble this offseason, that pick could also be used to acquire a player better & more consistent than Stewart.

I absolutely trade him to the highest bidder
We always have the option to resign him in the offseason... And for those who do want him, we have a couple advantages over other teams. 1) we will prob offer the most $$$ bc we need to get to the floor, most "playoff" teams are tight against the cap. 2) he brought up stability for his family, and they are already settled in here. We all know what a great place Buffalo is to raise a family.

So what I'm saying,
I think we can trade him AND still have a good chance to get him back... IF Murray wants
