I do remember that, but I think I can name like 4-6 players that are in the system that I want to see next year and that does not leave much for additional contracts. Just saying, I know we can pay people, but we need the roster places to do so.
And if we trade Myers or these other guys for young players, more chance of them playing too, with low cap hits. Just saying. I am sure it will not be an issue, but we will need to sign a couple guys (FA is not deep this year) because there is no stud I would pay a lot to. - Lilroot9
anti niemi one or two years year 6 mil.. position of need and short term |

Because next year we need another experienced Dman if we move Myers (his highest value would be currently) but you may be correct. From what I have read, we might be one of the only teams with tons of cap space this off season, so we could prolly just sign whomever for whatever (hopefully short term, high pay) and add tons through the draft (not that we need it, but they should go for the home run this draft, trade up as much as possible). - Lilroot9
I like your thought process, but I don't think we are at the point where we start making those kinda moves yet
1) we still don't "know" for sure that Ristolainen will be a top pair guy
2) trading Myers will leave a big hole, and anyone we might bring in to replace him will cost top dollar
It's prob better to wait another year or two for this kind of deal IMO
And I'd like to do better than Franson as a 2nd pair guy anyways
I would like to go after Bernier from Toronto though
IMO we need a young goalie that could develop into a franchise guy
I'm not sold on anyone we have in our system |

A rumor going around one of the Duck forums is Vaatanen, Ritchie and their 1st for Myers. |

Isn't that what Garf reported? We kicked it around quite a bit over the last few days.

I don't think they would. Especially packaged with Ritchie and their 1st for Myers.
Doesn't make a whole lot of sense. There would have to be more going back to the Ducks I would think. |

That's exactly what Garth said in his latest blog that it would take to get Myers
I'd do that in a freaking heartbeat
No chance the Ducks would |

It can't hurt to have him learn center now as that is the harder and more valuable position. I still think its 50-50 that he gets moved at some point. - Slump Buster
There's still so much time to build his value. He's playing great down there, and I think at least another season should see him move up here for the 16-17 season. Not knocking anyone in particular, but it seems like more and more people have demands that first round picks must play in the NHL right away. Sometimes guys just aren't ready to jump in at 18, 19, 20. Detroit is famous for staying patient with their prospects and it sure as hell pays off for them. Grigs is trending up big time, and by the time he earns a full time NHL position, I bet he manages to pull in at least 50 points during that season. |

Mike Green is available. He might pair up well with a guy like Pysyk. He's not a 30-goal d-man anymore, but he's worth a look if you can dump Gorges or Meszaros IMO |

Heard a minute of Hockey Hotline this morning. Great point by Sylvester:
"The Sabres will be flying against the Habs because they don't want to make it 14 in a row."
Ah, so they weren't fired up after 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 losses? |

The book is out on Myers. He's not that good. I don't think the packages discussed are close to reality. |

I thought the better point would be that Montreal doesn't want to lose to the 2 worst teams in the league at home in back-to-backs.

If they start Reinhart in Rochester, I think Grigorenko gets a hot at that 3rd center spot
Or they could possibly start Reinhart on the wing, especially since he's smaller, but also BC he's played wing with McDavid for a few years on Canada's Nat'l teams - jdfitz77
Also because of how they royally (frank)ed up his situation the last few years, Grigorenko cannot be sent down to Rochester next year unless he clears waivers. Awesome. |

I'd love him for our PP
But "defensively" he's a 3rd pair guy
I can't pay a 3rd pair guy what it would cost to get him
Unless it was just for like 3yrs maybe
I don't want his big contract on the book when he have to start re-upping a lot of our youngsters to bigger deals |

I think Murray wants a point getting d man and Vatanen could be a poor man's Karlsson
I would make this trade in a second |

Sign Paul Martin on a 2 year deal
Gives the team a lot of options on their back end - homiedclown
I would love this but I don't know if he would have any motivation to do this. I would sign Martin every day of the week before a guy like Franson. |
