Where are you getting that chart from? You should really cite stuff like that.

Just added the site name. In prior charts the guy's twitter username would always be in the top right corner.

I think this is going to be one of the biggest dice rolls when aquiring or not aquiring Jagr. He is still 42, and eventually his superhumanness will wear off and you will see a worn down old man. If the Devils can get a 2nd or conditional 1st, take it and run.

No, hell no. You just gave a top 6 winger prospect, a mid pairing D prospect, and a 2nd.

I think Bennett is a turd, but that is too much. Penguin fans have a mindboggling infatuation in bringing back a 42-year old pending UFA that doesn't solve a problem. Trading a second for him is retarded because that is basically putting Pittsburgh outside the deepest draft in recent years. We dont have a first, not a third, but you want to add a second along with the other pieces for another rental that doesn't solve anything? These are the types of trades why our organization is what it is.

Bennett is more of a suspect than a prospect.

I agree with Todd. The Devils will get more then most people think for Jagr. I can see lou squeezing a mid tier prospect plus a second rounder in the up coming draft out of someone

I wouldn't exactly complain about where your organization is. You could always swap place in the standings with us if you'd like.

2nd rd pick that's a conditional 1st sort of like the deal Boston made with Dallas . Or a 2nd rd pick and a decent fwd prospect. But I wouldn't be surprised if Lou does hold on to him and re sign. Status quo...

love jagr, but the reality of a 42 year old rental is going to hit pretty hard. the last time he was used as a trading chip for a playoff team, it didn't work out too well. take a 2nd rounder and run.

I love watching Jagr play and he still is a good player but he has slipped from last yr. He takes too many penalties and lack of speed causes D problems.

He needs to be paired with a good defensive Center.

How about one of Devante Smith-Pelley, or Emerson Etem, or Pat Maroon and a third this year or a second next year? I think Jagr would be awesome with Getzlaf and Perry.

I wouldn't look at precedence but more at trending. I don't think NJ's getting a conditional first for Jags... but they could get a 2nd and a top 9 ceiling forward (edited because of the assumption that blue chip means absolute best for some reason rather than NHL potential) and it would be a fair deal.

GMs are less and less likely to trade firsts, and though conditional firsts were the thing the last couple of years, they're probably even going to shy away from that. Playoff rentals are less common these days. Hockey trades have been more common in recent years.

I think you need a dose of reality here. He isn't worth a second plus a stud prospect. He is a 42 year old pending free agent. A second and a blue chipper is a hose job, not a fair deal.

I'm not talking forwards of top 6 potential here, I'm talking ceiling between 2nd and 3rd line.

fwiw it seems like expiring contracts are worth a premium right now compared to longer ones, what with the cap uncertainty

Who are the potential trade partners for Jagr: Boston, Pitt, NYI, Canadians?

Couple things: I doubt Jagr will want to go out West and Lou is pretty good with trying to be fair when trading players.

Jagr while a left handed shot only plays on the right side.

Ultimately you play to win the cup, not see if you can draft the next Sydney Crosby so if there is a team that feels he is the missing piece to winning the cup they would pay just about anything. A cup in 2015 is worth more to any owner then giving up any piece that isn't making an impact in the NHL right now. Obviously this is a dee draft picks could be pricier this year but Paul gaustad and far worse players have fetched a lot more then the second round take it and run returns every fan of every team not named the Devils is saying. I think a lot of people forget to that Lou is likely the most or one of the most respected people in hockey so he will not be throwing bones to other franchises because he is new like (frank) lol

2nd + average prospect is fair for a pure rental. Teams don't trade 1st round picks that much anymore and it's a deep draft.
