Isn't getting a third line Santorelli a step backwards . We have enough Higgins Burrows Hansen typ players. He doesn't give us scoring or grit
- VANTEL

To me Santo is a younger version of all of those guys. He was also extremely fit, a hometown boy, and consistent. I would have rather signed him and shipped out the guys already under contract.

I'm confused. I'm not advocating trading for him. I just wish we moved someone else last summer (Burrows, Higgins) and signed him instead

Honestly, considering how far he had fallen, I dont blame the brass for not re-signing him. His career was almost over before he joined the Canucks last season. Good on him for resurrecting his career, I just don't see a fit with the Canucks. Unless they choose to let both Matthias and Richardson walk, his future lies somewhere else.

We're past the point where he makes sense anymore but it's just too bad. Guy had a ton of heart

I would like Bieksa gone at TDL if he is off injured list

After the season he had last year, I don't think that we could have paid a team to take him, and then there's the NTC. At least now, if you can convince him to waive, you might find some interest.

Best TDL ever if we can move Burrows and Bieksa. It'll be sad to see them go, but the discussions on this forum will be worth it.

He's having a good season imo. Great penalty killer, scores goals, drives to the net. If our team wasn't so slow, I'd advocate to keep him. Thats not the case though.

Haha order some champagne, get Vantel to bring out some fillipinas, I'll bring the weed, and you can be in charge of the coka.

Yea, he's actually been one of our more effective players at times

Sad. A 33 yr old that has 10 goals and is slow , is one of our best players.

Exactly, I bet the organization is considering who to keep and who ship off as we speak. Having too many third liners, with no top 6 players, is a sure fire way to the bottom.

Realistically speaking, one of Higgins, Burrows, Matthias, or Richardson wont be back next season. Im hoping the lines look something like this.

(signing/trade/Callup)/Henrik/Vrbata
Daniel/Bonino/Kassian
Jensen/Horvat/Hansen
Higgins/Richardson/Dorrsett

Edler/Tanev
Hamhuis/Bieksa
Stanton/Clendenning

Burrows/Matthias are both gone. Don't get me wrong on Matthias, I like what he is bringing this year. But I don't want to re-sign him if the asking price is above 2 mill. The reason he's looked so good recently is because he is literally out skating everyone on this team. His lack of finish coupled with a high price tag is not worth the marginal gains we'd get from him over a player like Jensen. We have plenty of PK'ers that can fill his role once he leaves. Kassian is a placeholder in case Virtanen is not ready. If he is, figure out what works best for this team. Kassian is a positive Corsi player, but so was Booth. Figure it out, and ice the best possible line-up. That is all I can ask for.

The Sedin's need a player who can drive to the net with speed to create some space out there. When they are both playing together, the whole line is too slow. Split them up, cause I can with certainty say they will play better. Both are play drivers according to their positive corsi's. It would benefit the entire team if they were split up so they can spread some of that positive corsi love throughout the lineup.

Let Clendenning gain some experience, keep Corrado in the minors, and wait for Bieksa's contract to be up. His contract has what two more seasons after this one?

I think next season is Bieksa's final on his contract. I use to call him Kevin(contract season)Bieksa a couple of years back because he was capable of shutting me up in those seasons just to get lazy again and piss me off. Who knows.... maybe he'll have a minor bounce back next season and have a little more value.

Maybe Benning can get him an interview with a local TV station or sports network and he'll retire.

He's streaky as hell over the last couple of years. This year he cant get any consistancy what so ever. Has really taken a step back.

I wonder what kind of value he has.... 2nd rounder? or do you think he still has enough repect around the league he could return a little more?

Nice win by Calgary, now we just need Minny, LA, Dallas, and Colorado to get hot and string together some wins immediately.

Definitely a pick plus prospect. Considering the price of a defenseman now a days, I dont think this is a huge ask. 1st plus a B prospect.
