Am I the only one in thinking the Wild are the scariest team in Calgary's rear view mirror? They were loaded before, and they apparently now have a goalie. One whom I though was done as an NHLer last year. Scarier than even the kings....I am thinking to make it, they will also need the Peg to fall out. Minnesota is looking pretty awesome. No shame in that 1 0 defeat.

Yeah I agree. I could definitely see the nucks missing the playoffs though. I don't have a ton of faith, but there is a chance non the less.

Without Sean Burke around, I expect Dubnyk to come crashing back down to earth. He'll let in a few softies and then the team will start to lose confidence again. But, for now, they are looking really good and dangerous. Hope Duby fall before the break so they consider trading for 1 of our goalies.

They could be a threat next season. Honestly though it's almost impossible for a team in that position to climb into a playoff spot at the point in the season. They are back too many points and there are too many teams they need to leap.

I am very encouraged to see the Kings slumping the way they are. They had a regulation loss tonight. It is very surprising mind you.

I just looked and the last 2 games of the season are VS the Kings and then the Jets. It could make for a dramatic end of the season. Hopefully the Flames will be locked into a playoff spot by then but if not they could be battling one or both of those teams for a spot.

Do you think Z. Kassian could be a useful player on the current Flames roster? Do you think that the Canucks would trade him to a rival? What do you think the Flames would have to pay to get him.

If the Flames could get him for a 4th or 5th round pick I would say yes but not much more than that. $1.75 million for this year and next plus he would still be a RFA at that point. Even if he played 4th line minutes his salary would not be that hard to fit in.

I agree. They are firing on all cylinders. Glad LA lost last night. Too many three point games last night though. I think that the Jets will be the one to fall out of the playoffs if a team does fall out. The Avs have been looking good lately as well.

Haha....well I obviously hate that guy. But he seems like a bit of a head case. The potential upside isn't anywhere near where it needs to be to risk affecting the chemistry of this team. I don't even want to consider him at this point.

From a PURE hockey analysis, he's a big body and has some skill. I can see the lure of a guy like Kassian. But like I said before, just way too risky!

I still thought the Flames outplayed them most of the game. Dubnyk saved their bacon.. . The pundits had them as a conference leader but lost allot of ground because of their start. If the Jets don't figure things out pdq, they will be on the outside very, very soon!

The Canucks I think will stay but I'm not sure if they will have the gas to actually win a round. I can see Minny taking one of the last spots but the Kings are the intriguing team. They SHOULD be better but are not. The Avs need to ride goaltending, as do the Wild. LA has goaltending but can't seem to get their overall game turned around. Regardless I see 95 points as the magic number to secure a playoff spot...

I don't know how to do it...but if someone looked up at the Flames record since last January I think we'd see how good this team actually is!

Everyone keeps waiting for them to stumble....but it's just not gonna happen. They are actually good!

The body is all there is. The guy is a post/dumptruck. Feaster may not be around anymore, but Hartley still values intelligent players.

If you ever watch an interview Kassian has this look of determined concentration when he's required to use words, but I do find his puzzled face to be pretty funny whenever a ref calls him for something.

agreed...Norris died in 1952 and Richard in 2000. Definitely bad trades for the Flames. Where did mvp play again? maybe that might be something to explore...

I want to believe... but poop its year 2?!?! we are supposed to be sucking worse than the Oil...yet...
I'm going to the game tonight so they better f'n win! It would be nice to have the Sharks miss the playoffs by 1 pt and look back at this game and say, if we coulda that night...

I think he meant MPS. Used to be an Oiler. You could probably get him for less than Bolig though, considering he's gone through waivers with no one going after him, so that's a bad trade.

You're right Norris is dead, so that's less than a bag of pucks for Engelland. Not good in my opinion.

And Richard? Richard who? Richard Zednik? The guy is retired. Maybe if we swung a deal to get Chara he'd consider putting the ole skates on again but that's a way different trade.

After a quick look, from Jan 3rd of last year and on, we were 21-20-1 (before hand 14-20-6, which gives us the record of 35-40-7) Adding this season (28-20-3), we'd be around 49-40-4.

I love seeing the improvement. The last two years we had these nasty losing streaks in December, but afterwards was decent. Hopefully we can continue this hot streak as of late!
