Both GM's seem steadfast in their needs and wants

One of those 3 teams mentioned at the end of the blog are going to step up before too long in my opinion.

If for anything at all, simply for the fear of losing out on an over valued Tyler Myers.

Thank you for the blog Mike.

Murray was trying to get into the 10-18 range.

You seem to be not so high on Myers. What would you consider an "overpayment" for him?

I don't drink the Myers kool aid is all.

Over payment for Myers in my opinion would be a 1st rounder and anything higher than a 3rd line roster player.

Thats strange? It only took 2 of our second rounders for Snow to move back into the first round in the last draft.

don't know what happened, but reeding that, I envy that move

Like I've said a million times, Wings aren't going to overpay for anything (unless they get desperate because of injuries ala Legwand), and even then it won't be for anything close to what Buffalo wants (they'll shop somewhere else).

They definitely aren't going to overpay in the summer when there is a lot more available on the market. So unless Buffalo reduces their ask (which as every Buffalo fan will tell you they have no reason to do) everybody might as well move on from this story.

Edmonton's win last night put Buffalo at a 92% chance at 30.

That being said, Edmonton has a 7% chance and Arizona has less than 1% chance.

I don't care either way if he stays or goes, but does anyone else just not want Myers to go to DET?
- jzabawa

I'd prefer not to move him at all; unless it's a steal (which seems to be Murray's opinion as well). I would rather not risk him becoming great somewhere else, especially for someone in our division. Who the hell knows what Murray is going to do though, it's exciting to say the least if you ask me.

Buffalo's little gizmo on here thinks he just needs a new fresh opportunity on a good team lol.
Then others think he sucks

If I was DET i would only give up DET 2015 1st for him.

Just curious in regards to value of what we could receive from us trading both 2nd rounders packaged and both late 1st (packaged) how far could we move up? or what type of player
- yen6d1

To me, the value does not matter, as it will depend if the other team (not Sabres) want to get more picks and move back. So teams that already have a solid farm system, may not do that, but teams just starting their rebuild (Leafs, Yotes, maybe Ottawa or other teams) might want more picks in a deep draft opposed to a single prospect.

Currently having (should at least) 4 picks in the first 31 picks gives us a lot of assets to try what you are saying, which is something that Murray should and will (I think he will) do. We have a deep prospect pool and adding 3 more players (not considering our first pick) may not be in our best interest considering who we already have.

On the other side, those 4 picks in a deep draft could all be used, to help retool the team into players that Murray would want (compared to players that he just inherited). If this draft is as deep as the 2003 draft, I might consider keeping all 4 of those picks because there was a few players in the 20's that all teams would want today, but also a few I have never heard of.

I think the "value" of those picks depends on the trading partner, but I would think of those 3 "other" picks in the top 31, two of them should get you to 10-15 range. Maybe higher if the two first rounders are mid teens (highly doubt though). The advantage the Sabres have, they can trade 2 or more picks for a lower pick and take back a bad contract to even it out for them. That could work in a big way if the cap does not go up as much as expected and we will have tons of cap room.

the cool part about myers and the return he might get back if he's even traded is that there's supposedly more than one team interested in him...

for the record, murray isn't shopping him, nor from what I've read, does he intend to shop myers...he's taking offers..so it's on his terms

Heading up to Bell Centre today (from Lake Placid) for the game where I will be rockin' my Myers throwback 3rd Jersey....It was a gift...

I've seen about 5 games there and the Sabres have never lost, so hopefully that will continue. 14 games in a row is ridiculous. The NHL record is 17. I won't be supporting the Tank today. Tommorow, probably.
