Elliote Friedman is pretty trustworthy on these things and definitive on this and he wasn't the only one to report this:

"The Red Wings stopped there," Friedman said. Perhaps the Red Wings would’ve considered if they were acquiring the Myers from a few years ago. As is, Mantha, the 20th pick in the 2013 draft, is loaded with potential, scoring 57 times and notching 120 points in the QMJHL last season. While Myers, 24, has been a shadow of the player he was his rookie season when he recorded 48 points.

Well, he couldn't get the 20th pick in the draft, so I guess he's hoping for a better deal to come along or just hold onto the guy, wait for injuries to open the market more. Who knows.

He said he tried using all 3 2nds to move up into the middle of the 1st round and no one would bite.

He also said after the draft and this is a direct quote "I wouldn't have moved him for the 10th pick let alone the 24th".

I said he was the 20th pick in the draft and you assumed I meant last year when all I meant was he was taken 20th and they still wouldn't give up your golden boy for him. If Armia was on another team would you trade Myers for Armia? I hope so.
