I know nothing about him, but seems like another small forward.
I think the Habs could trade a 2nd round pick plus an average prospect. Might fit the bill. - deadpoulet
We're looking for scoring wingers and he seems to fit the bill. We have a ton of gritty talent in the minors and are still lacking high end scorers. It seems like a reasonable trade. |

Sebastian Collberg and a 2nd for Vanek? Knowing it was just a rental (as he wanted to test FA).
I know that is Vanek and not Stewart, but that goes against what you said. That is all. - Lilroot9
Vanek didn't get more because the Isle's owner wouldn't take back salary. Rumor has it they would have gotten a lot more from another team that couldn't take on his salary.

you can have staff for a second rd pick
we will even throw in gorges - homiedclown
Dont under value these players. Only time will tell what they are worth, but we traded a 2016 2nd for Gorges, so my guess is we could get a 2nd for him alone, maybe a 2-3rd for Stafford (if a bidding war starts).
Stafford would do great on a talented 3rd line (best year in Buffalo under Drury and Briere). But I doubt a team overpays for him. But if he helps in the playoffs, it could totally be worth it (not to mention a chance to resign). |

I'm so tired of talking about it. The trade deadline cant come fast enough. - ImThatGuy
What's it matter, then it'll all be "Awww geez Murray, you couldn't make X trade like Y team did to get Z player?!?!???!" |

Murray is a bust unless he acquires ALL 30 first round picks at the trade deadline. |

Sebastian Collberg was 33rd overall pick and a second (was later second, so like 57ish). I dont know anything about any of those prospects.
Maybe we can throw in a Gorges or Gionta? lol
So are you saying that the two listed prospects are "better" than Sebastian Collberg? (I have no idea) |

If he can get the first 3 picks, I would let him stay for another year to increase his trade value. |

Like I said, I know nothing about him, but mtl needs to get bigger at some point. Most of their guys in the AHL are small, outside of Delarose.
They need to hold on to guys like scherbak, McCaron and I would say Tinordi. Need to play him at some point though. |

Well in that case, seems like this wouldn't be a terrible trade from you guys. Seeing as those listed above are well above Stewart's worth, I figured I'd take a flyer on a guy who probably doesn't have worth to you guys in the size or within the next 2 years department. |

All depends on how others view Myers
some view him as a #2 dman, some as a #4 dman, some as a bottom pairing guy
I think he just needs to be on a talented team to be a #2 guy
all about opinions
If I was DET, the East is up for the taking this year. Pens suck in the playoffs, Tampa has been up and down, Montreal's essentially led by their all-world goaltender, Rangers have been up and down. I think Myers would do well there.
What'd that pick be, at highest 18th overall? That's like Evgeny Svechnikov/Jeremy Roy/Colin White/Nick Merkley territory. All project to be 2nd line players, Svechnikov/Roy could be top guys with their potential. - FLYERSROCK!
On a good team he is not a #2 dman or 1st pairing.
3-4 dman , 2nd pairing is who Myers is in my opinion.
Some nights he plays worse than that even to be fair. |

To me, the value does not matter, as it will depend if the other team (not Sabres) want to get more picks and move back. So teams that already have a solid farm system, may not do that, but teams just starting their rebuild (Leafs, Yotes, maybe Ottawa or other teams) might want more picks in a deep draft opposed to a single prospect.
Currently having (should at least) 4 picks in the first 31 picks gives us a lot of assets to try what you are saying, which is something that Murray should and will (I think he will) do. We have a deep prospect pool and adding 3 more players (not considering our first pick) may not be in our best interest considering who we already have.
On the other side, those 4 picks in a deep draft could all be used, to help retool the team into players that Murray would want (compared to players that he just inherited). If this draft is as deep as the 2003 draft, I might consider keeping all 4 of those picks because there was a few players in the 20's that all teams would want today, but also a few I have never heard of.
I think the "value" of those picks depends on the trading partner, but I would think of those 3 "other" picks in the top 31, two of them should get you to 10-15 range. Maybe higher if the two first rounders are mid teens (highly doubt though). The advantage the Sabres have, they can trade 2 or more picks for a lower pick and take back a bad contract to even it out for them. That could work in a big way if the cap does not go up as much as expected and we will have tons of cap room. - Lilroot9
Great post thanks!! I like your one option of just keeping all 4 picks. Like many have said we have great D prospects but after them...nothing to brag about. This could be the place to stock the shelf.
Also agree with trading up if there is a a player that may slip to a point where its too good to pass up. I know this almost never happens but something similar how getzlaf fell to the late teens |
