Regarding Coho's problems, I think it's just as much about Nolan as it is Coho

Put Coho with a coach that strives for 3 goals a game and Coho puts up 45-50 points in a full season.

- homiedclown

You are very correct sir. I am not a Nolan hater either. This is the type of player that slips through the cracks with a coach such as Nolan.

He brings zero to the table at the moment and you're claiming a guy with 4years and 19 million still owed. If he's not on your top line, he's essentially useless.
- dadeadhead

You bring up the salary and I will bring up that you can get a player that young for free. A player that is having a career worst season on the worst disaster of a team but a poorly coached tanking team.

Put Coho in Florida in their top 6 and he has 35 points by now.

Put him on the PP he would have more points.

Playing him with Pat Freaking Kaleta is not going to help him produce.

I'll say this.
At times this place is like a bad car wreck, you just can't look away.

I'll also say this.
More often than not, by the age of 25 a player in the NHL usually is what he is.

- BuffaloHardHat

Lots of times thats true. But sometimes, a player is just not in the right spot while he's developing.

To this point in his career, Hodgson has 57 goals and 72 assists.

PLAYER B is another undersized player, not especially good on his skates, and horrible in the defensive end. Until he was 25 years old, he had 53 career goals and 47 career assists. Then he was traded away from a bad team, and blossomed once he was placed in right environment.

Who is Player B.

COHO is from Toronto. Why don't we hear about him wanting to go home and play for the Leafs all the time?
- adambuffalo

I think the leafs are up against the cap and im not so sure we would want anyone off their roster to help make cap space...

IMO, this is a bigger problem then most people think.
- ImThatGuy

agreed

even last night

3 shots on goal in the third period

risto and z have no business getting less then 15 minutes of ice time when the team is 30th in the nhl

gionta getting 19 minutes of ice time
mitchell getting 18 minutes of ice time

it's as if Nolan's coaching style is the same as if he had peca and ward up front with dom in net

I don't give a poop. Hodgson doesn't attempt and can't defend. There is no future in that.

This. And once again, who has cap space? He isn't "young" anymore, he is a winger that avoids contact and can't skate.

He's not helping himself produce.

He can't skate

He can't play in any other zone but the offensive zone

He is not a guy you go to battle and expect to come out on top

He's a nice player but not one that will be missed

It's Nolan doing his part of the tank. That's why I think we need to give him at least one year to see what he can do when we are starting the turnaround.

I didn't say I would miss him. I am just saying he would be claimed if placed on waivers.

And I disagree.

If a player like Richards doesn't get claimed because of term, neither would Hodgson.

Richards brings way more to the table.

I disagree Nolan is coaching the same way he did with Buffalo. Play a non aggressive style. Rely on D and a goaltender to bail you out.

That may have worked in the clutch and grab era, but not now. It also dint hurt having arguably the beast goalie to ever lace them up.

15 pts playing 4th line minutes.

While being 5 years older and 5 more years on his contract and has had decreasing production over the last 3 seasons while this is Coho's first decline and playing on the worst team in the league by far.

If Richards had 2 or 3 years left he would have been claimed. Richards wasn't claimed because the contract goes until he is 34. Not 29
